Dexter always takes its time to get the season's storyline moving and there's usually a single episode that shakes things up and gets things moving along. Last night's episode was the one for this season. We now know that Jordan Chase and that-guy-who-played-Robocop are more likely going to die by the end of the season and we get to see how the show takes us there.
Julia Styles has been good for the most part. I didn't read any press before her debut, so I didn't even realize it was her until until a few episodes in (I also don't pay attention the credits). I think her role will get better now that her character is finally stepping out of the mega-traumatized phase she's been in.
I'm looking forward to the eventual scene where Deb finds out Quinn is checking out Dexter, maybe even seeing those photos from out on the boat.

I've really enjoyed the last few episodes, now that the main storyline for the season has kicked into high gear. Stiles' restrained acting style fits her traumatized character really well, in my opinion. It was also a good touch to spread the wealth around to a few villains (Jordan Chase and his gang of rapists, plus Quinn's corrupt cop buddy, even Quinn himself) rather than have one central villain and give them the tough task of living up to Lithgow's performance last year.
It's also great that the show is bringing back the politically-motivated, underhanded LaGuerta from the first season rather than the schmoopy-in-love-with-Batista version.

Dexter doesn't strike me as the type of show to jump into without having seen the previous seasons, but go nuts. Weller's role has been minor up to now, but all signs point to him being a major player for at least the next few episodes.

I didn't even realize it was Weller until I saw the credits. Something about Dexter brings the best out of actors. I can't stand Julia Styles, but she's done a good job and Jimmy Smits and Lithgow were both incredible.
I'm real interested in seeing the origin of the boys photo. They probably all got raped at camp or something.
It's in the comic, but it's different... (spoiler text) For a movie that was loyal to it's source about 75% of the way through, that one change actually made me understand why a critic like Ebert wasn't able to see where the movie was coming from.
