Nothing too earthshattering here, which is a good thing. I was totally burnt out on all of the Batman Incorporated crap (yeah, I know it is still going on).

We are back to basics. Batman Vs The Joker. While I think they way overuse Joker, he was used well. Probably the sickest Joker has been portrayed since...it's been awhile.

Nice moment when Bruce is disturbed that his obsession with Joker made him nearly miss rescuing a little girl.

The whole thing ends up in a direction that I can't predict, so they've succeeded in keeping me reading.

I'll just port over what I wrote in the other thread:

Detective Comics #1 was a good read, nothing revolutionary, just a solid pure Batman vs. the Joker story; ultraviolent, bloody and incredibly grim. Not for young readers. It reveals very little about Batman's new status quo, except that Batman has been in Gotham much longer than Gotham knew he was there, and how many people Joker has killed in six years. It weaves in a lot of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, right down to Heath Ledger's Joker's preference for using knives.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Then it turns into Face/Off at the end.

Oh, and one more thing:

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Am I seeing things or is that the Black Lantern logo in Joker's eye in the extreme close of up of him tied up in Arkham Asylum?

And while I'm at it: I noticed that the new Batcave in this rebooted universe still has a giant penny and a robot tyrannosaurus rex in it. What the fuck? Where did those fucking things come from? Are those 1950s stories still in continuity? Why does that shit need to be in the Batcave in 2011?

1. Is that what they're going for?

2. I was gonna say no, but damned if it doesn't. I hope not thought. I'd really like some Batman stories without any supernatural or cosmic bullcrap for awhile.

3. Probably because fanboys would bitch. The TRex and Penny are like thetwo constants in the Batcave, which is odd since they are from relatively forgettable stories.

Both comics today had Ouija boards, injuries to onlookers, and the last panel had a WORD-FOR-WORD match between the two... Very odd.
