I don't know anything about the horses in the race this year, but I always enjoy reading your picks before, and then the eventual break-down of the race by the people who actually understand horse racing.

"Northern Illinois posted its best defensive effort in seven seasons allowing just 42 points on Saturday afternoon, but it came in a losing effort as the Huskies fell to Eastern Michigan, 42-25, at the EMU Convocation Center. "

OK, I gave in. This is the second time in my life I'm betting on horses (I had what I seem to remember was an 0-fer at Santa Anita way back in the day.)
$20 on Orb and another ten on a variety of loony exactas mostly involving Orb and Oxbow.
My scientific system involves a handicapper here telling me Orb was going to win, The Orb being one of my favourite musical acts, and one of The Orb's singles being "Oxbow Lake" AND someone else telling me Oxbow was good in slop. In short, too much evidence for me NOT to make the bet...it's basically just like leaving free money on the table. (I'm sure in two hours this statement will prove to be more pathetic than prophetic.)
I probably wouldn't have invested ANY time (or money!) in this endeavour if the Nationwide race weren't under rain delay, so I blame all of this on NASCAR.
My bets: $20 Win 16 $2 Exacta 16/2 $2 Trifecta 16/2/20 $2 Superfecta 16/2/20/8 $2 Super High Five 16/3/8/14/12 $2 Exacta 12/15
My sentiments are more or less in line: pretty good show, results were predictable but the fights were exciting nonetheless. And while I was expecting Silva to beat Fujita, I didn't think it would be quite like that.
