Ex-cop turned actor. A terrific actor known mostly for playing a no nonsense characters. I think I appreciate best is that he could be really funny. RIP

I knew of him, but didnt really see him in anything until, strangely, he took over hosting duties for the "new" Unsolved Mysteries. He was no Bob Stack, but he did a nice job. And he also showed up as Nick's dad on New Girl last season.

That's a real shame. I loved him in just about everything I ever saw him in. He was quite a bit older than I would have thought, though.

"Get Shorty" was probably my favorite role of his. And I just watched "Out of Sight" again a couple weeks ago. Small role, but his and Michael Keaton's back-and-forth was so great.

If you can catch any episodes of Crime Story from way back in the day, he was brilliant.

That show was awesome. My father and I still talk about it.

He's in a number of great films that I still watch from time to time (Get Short, Midnight Run, Snatch, etc), so he ended up becoming one of my favorite actors. This has me pretty bummed out.

When they were filming "Empire Falls" up here, my wife saw Farina in the local supermarket. He smiled and said hello and she thought, "hey, that guy looks familiar, but I can't place him." Also saw William Fichtner shopping there a couple times.

Those are two of my favorite movies, and he is a highlight in both. Enjoyed him on New Girl recently too, among many other things.

I really wish you hadn't done that. I had things to do this weekend.

An exceptionally young Michael Rooker is in the pilot episode. This is terrific.

Loved the inclusion of John Mahoney as Bob's father. I initially didn't recognize the voice, expecting the patented Martin Crane accent. Then I remembered John Mahoney is from England, so the voice kinda fit.
