DC announced The Joker returns to The New 52 this October in Batman #13 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. (dccomics.com) It launches a multi-month arc similar to the Court of Owls saga in scope. Scott Snyder is promising this will be his "Arkham Asylum or Killing Joke, only bigger in scope." Big words, but I'm excited. The Joker hasn't been seen since he carved his face off in Detective Comics #1 last year. And the title of the saga is intriguing: Death of the Family. Which family? Very excited to see Snyder and Capullo take on The Joker for The New 52.
Bottom line: this isn't just @GregCapullo and I using the Joker for an arc...
You would think it would be Tim or Babs or even Dick, or please please let it be Jason Todd again, but its going to be Alfred. I also think like they did with the original Death in the Family, underestimate the fan outrage over it, more so know thanks to the internet. You can't kill a character off in comics without pissing off some group of fanboys.
Telling people, this is your Killing Joke is pretty much setting you up to fail. I am curious to see if he is going with the Ledger Joker or the the demon Joker Morrison made or back to the original Joker. Either way, I am not that confident in this book after the reveal of how is behind the Owls. Might as well have been Bob from Twin Peaks.

I'm on board. I waited until the Owl story was done to hop aboard late, and here's my chance. Snyder has yet to write something I haven't liked, and, dammit, it's time for the New 52 to bring on the archenemies, the heavy hitter villains.

I am with you there about the reveal, man. I thoroughly dug the Court of Owls story throughout. I didn't have any theories about who was behind it all, but when the reveal happened, I was like, "huh". Didn't float my boat. The story isn't over yet and there's a big fight to come between Batman and Big Owl Talon Man (for lack of a name), but yeah, that reveal didn't do anything for me.
Still, I'm enjoying reading Batman monthly more than I have in almost 20 years and that's because of Snyder and Capullo putting out a great Batman book month in and month out. (And Snyder's run of Detective with Jock pre-New 52 was terrific too.)
The man behind the Court of Owls, if you didn't know, was...

Snyder mentioned Joker having knives in the press release, so sounds like there will at least be elements of the Heath Slater Joker.

We got Darkseid in JLA and that is as heavy hitter as you are going to get. Having said that, it wouldn't shock me if they October due to Halloween to focus on the Big Bads. I might give this a shot like you and wait til Owls are over, but I really don't see how they are going to top the original one or re-launching Joker for the second or third time since Dark Knight came out. The giant shock to me, would be someone actually killing Joker.
Ledge Joker needs to stay in the Nolanverse.

I've been mostly on the outs when it comes to The New 52, with the glaring exception of Snyder's Batman, which has been a total joy to read. The Court of Owls has been all the exposure I've had to DC over the past year and I feel better for it, just because it may be some of the best Batman stuff I've read in years.

I would give anything to see a Heath Slater Joker.
The best part of this is that it's not even the first time John's made this typo. I think typing "Slater" after "Heath" has just become second nature.

That's true. I didn't realize I did it again at first, and then I just decided to leave it the way it is.
Maybe AJ should team with Heath Slater for a Joker and Harley tandem that only I and people on this board would get.
