Man, Meltz throwing in a little jab here and there isn't all that rare (and one of few tells that proves he's still alive) but he was either bored or drunk when putting up the SD spoilers in his morning update.
And one point he goes on and ON about how, because Stephanie said she didn't cheat on HHH in her sit-down with JR, that she really did. And how did he explain this, you don't ask? By going through several lines of history about when Bischoff "challenged" Vince to a match on a ppv. On top of that bit of drunkery, he makes a FUNNAY by saying that Stephanie calling hers a "perfect marriage", that she's cheating with Hennig... goes a lil' sumpin' like this-
"Perfect marriage, Ohmygod, she married Curt Hennig in secret. Run for your life, HHH. Sorry, that was a rib, I know you've got to lose 30 pounds before you can run."
Ohmygod! WACKY!
He also goes on extensively about how he wants Flair's in-show retirement to just take already and all this other shit that I'd be expecting from DA STOAN COAL NOOZ BORD. Just pathetic.

| #2 Posted on 30.1.02 0911.46 | "Okay, Austin, you've had all those **** matches with Kurt Angle and you think you can carry everyone. Well, everyone isn't an Olympic gold medalist who does whatever is asked of him."
I read that line in utter disbelief. I'm sorry, almighty Mr. Meltzer, but doesn't the fact that he's been in the WWF's main event for almost 4 FRIGGIN' YEARS kinda give him the right to be in the hottest angle in the company right now? I mean, look back at the inception of the NWO. Who would you rather have had facing off against the NWO at Bash at the Beach '96: Sting, Luger, and Macho Man or Disco Inferno, Ice Train, and Sgt. Craig Pittman? Wrestling talent aside, they were main eventers and they had their spot in the fans' minds.
Without going too much into the spoilers, I thought it totally unnecessary for him to take repeated shots at Austin and Ric Flair. Like them or not, they should at least be respected, and for Meltzer (a guy that only cares about paid attendance, buy rates, and how everything affects the "bottom line"). To me, Ric Flair giving up on the WWF just to keep the NWO out the other night was PHENOMENAL. Here you have a guy who just beat Vince McMahon at Royal Rumble that's at the top of the company (in his spot) right now that humbled himself in front of Vince to keep those guys out. Not only that, but the fact that they're drawing this out is GREAT. There should be more of this... they should have done it with Rock and Triple H (instead of showing those stupid music videos... all we got was Shrieky McMamm going on about pointing at people).
So, what does Meltzer say? He says Flair should turn or retire or whatever already... that exactly is the kind of hot-shot bullshit Vinnie Roo booking that killed WCW in the first place. Great job, Dave... maybe you ought to be booking the XWF or something. What an arrogant ass.

I don't think that whoever wrote that comment (and I agree with TCF that it wasn't Meltzer that wrote it, but whoever sent the spoilers in that added the comments although the author isn't the point here) meant it in the way you took it. It appears to be an "inside joke" that Austin is eager to do the nWo angle even though the matches are gonna suck because his opponents are going to be old, slow prima donnas who by and large had no skills to speak of even when they were young, fast up-and-comers. | dskillz

| #5 Posted on 30.1.02 1144.59 | I get totally annoyed by Dave, (read the thread devoted to the Mighty Observer for proof). But the recap sucked and couldn't have been Dave at all. The whole Mr. Perfect thing was wacky. The shots taken at Anglt, Austin and Flair were silly. I have no idea who wrote the recap, but it was not Dave. Unless Dave is trying to become more like the other 10,542 wrestling sites on the web. Or he is trying to be hip. But either way, it was not good.

I don't know... he credited rajahwwf.com for the report, and when I went to look at theirs to double-check, it was totally different from what Dave had posted. That's why it looked (to me) like all the commentary on there was his. You're right... if those remarks weren't his, then he sure made himself look like an ass by not saying that.
[edit] On second thought, I can totally see why Dave wouldn't personally have said those things. I mean, his meal ticket is his contacts, and why would he take shots at such high-profile guys like that? Whoever wrote those comments were wacked-out.
