I kinda agree with the fact Dave just isn't a threatening name at all

I mean first names are fine, but not DAVE

John Cena's OVW name was Prototype. Maybe he should be John "The Prototype" Cena.

There's nothing wrong with Batista. But DAVE Batista? I sure hope that they don't refer to him as that, it's just not scary... or mysterious... or intimidating... or any good.

Now can u dig that

They should just name him Leviathan again. Doesn't even need any supernatural background since he is a huge monster of a man already...

So you're all saying that if you met Batista in real life, you wouldn't be the least bit intimidated since his name is Dave? ;)

Batista used to be a bouncer here in DC. Scary scary guy. His name could be Herbert Batista and I'd still wet myself if I saw him coming for me!

Give the guy a nickname and we might have something. But I'll admit, "Leviathan" Dave Batista doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. I think it's time to go back to the drawing board.

Since we're playing on his genetic strength, why can't we call him "Genetic Freak" Dave Batista?

Or would that upset that OTHER Genetic Freak?

Anyone else think that they could've at least gone with David Batista? I mean, I don't even call my brother Dave.

They should call him Big Dave Batista. It's always good to have 'big' in your name. And there was a football hooligan in the 2000AD comics called Big Dave, and he was a badass.

He'd loose the Bristish audience though, due to the creation of a huge afro wearing dude from the 70's of the same name to sell Pot Noodles.

Many of y'all here prefer naming him just Batista... what if they were to go the other way and drop his last name?
"Beware the wrath of DAVE!"
"Ohmigod, King, it's DAVE... and business is about to pick up"

I mean, if you're gonna go with the goofy name, then damnit, then go large with it.

Going with just the goofy single name hasn't really done all that much for Albert.

From the desk of Swordsman Yen
They could call him Super Dave Batista and have him do stunts that always hilariously end up in disaster. Hey, if you're gonna call a guy who looks badass Dave, you might as well give him a comedy gimmick while you're at it.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten that guy. He was cool, though - sort of like an imaginary friend, wasn't he? Maybe they should give Batista an afro, too. We need more monster heels with afros, that's what I think.

I would have to argue that The Rock is actually Rocky Maivia (in WWE land) simply because that is how he was introduced. Due to his high self esteem, he christened himself "The Rock" (which is why fans chant "Rocky", they don't chant "The Rock"). I'm not sold on the Hurricane argument either because he is still called "Hurricane Helms" or Greg "Hurricane" Helms by the announcers on occasion. But, I do agree, that "Dave" doesn't fit as a menacing name, but you throw a nickname in there and you may have something.

Kind of on topic, and I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet.. BUT... did anyone else here Stacy call Test "Andrew" last night during their hair cutting skit?

And for the record, I'm OK with Dave Batista. I'm kinda bored with cheesy gimmick nicknames.

Dave's just to damn familiar a name. It makes it soud like the announcers have known him for years and he's kinda a big loveable lad when you get to know him. then again that might be cos i've seen those pot noodle adds. Now THAT was a big Dave

Okay, that's the funniest thing I have read this week. Dave the Giant...Ha ha.

Perhaps the WWE is phasing the entire Raw roster towards regular names. I hear that these changes are in order:

Larry "Triple" Helmsley
Horatio Kane
Ivan Goldust
Jamal Lefkowitz
Rosey Rabinowitz
Rico Constantino (that name is great all by itself)
Lukewarm Christian
Victoria "Makes a menacing fist in Trish's general direction" Langwell

"Oh, a handful of change. I guess I can use this to go...um...buy some candy. So thank you for adding a step to my Halloween process"- homestarrunner

I'm really hoping they don't go the tournament route, considering they just had a US title tournament a year ago. Remember 1996-98, when they had IC and Tag Title tournaments seemingly twice a year?
