Bryan was in Indianapolis for Raw and backstage, his situation was the most talked about thing among those in power. He was sent back to Pittsburgh to see Dr. Joseph Maroon, who did his neck surgery, to see what was wrong. Bryan will return on the 6/9 Raw for another confrontation with Stephanie.

Because of that, there was no certainty and they created the Money in the Bank backup plan because they didn’t want to do a PPV without the world title at stake. The idea is Payback had it at stake in the angle.

Nothing is definite. There is a feeling, knowing Bryan’s wanting to be in the thick of things and mental toughness, that even if it’s not the right thing for him, that he’ll wrestle on 6/29. There is tremendous real life pressure being put on him right now to be ready, whether direct or just implied.

As of right now, if Bryan doesn’t work, they will do a ladder match for the title. They are considering a second ladder match where the winner would have the briefcase, but right now they are going with the idea Bryan vs. Kane will headline.

The "losing strength" bit is very concerning to me, but that was downplayed a little bit on the audio. It figures we'll probably get some sort of resolution this Monday - unless Dr. Maroon gives him an 'absolutely not' in their visit this week, Bryan's's probably wrestling whatever the cost.

Whatever God, Deity, Lucky Charm or Great Maker you believe, you might want to send one up for D-Bry for the next two months. Especially, if the general feeling is he going to do these matches no matter what the cost.

Forget this proposed Bryan/Brock Summerslam match, it's time to get the belt off Bryan right now. If he's insisting on wrestling if there's even a 10 percent chance, give him the Kane bout in a very safe gimmicky match (Kane's rep as a very safe worker is great bonus here) and then have the MITB winner cash in immediately afterwards to take the title.

Surely the medicals they have thesedays would prevent him from working, even if he wanted to? They won't let guys with even the most minor of concussions compete, let alone someone who's just had neck surgery and is losing strength in their arm.

I can't imagine it would be too dangerous to just have Bryan come out, get distracted by someone (Steph, Heyman, or Dr. Shelby), chokeslammed, and have the new champion be Kane.

Thing is, it's not a pinfall victory match. It's a stretcher match, where the only way to lose is to get carted out on a gurney. Even if Kane exploits Bryan's injured neck (which is dangerous even if he's just punching it), it'd probably take more than a chokeslam to realistically do DB in.

I really hope he doesn't do anything foolish and cuts his career short. Sure, he might never be as over as he is right now, but is one more match really worth jeopardizing everything for? If things are this iffy, I'd rather he just give up the belts and have the ladder match be for the titles than see him end his career trying to make the fans happy.

The easiest thing to do is when the match starts, the lights go out and Kane is strapped to a stretcher. Bryan looks over and its Taker as an EMT, he tips his hat and walks off. Maybe he punches Steph or Heyman or someone on the way out. Bryan does the Yes Chant and we go to the ladder match. If its as bad as it seems change the title on Raw.

If you really don't want to be spoiled about tonight's RAW and this situation, you need to get off the internet now.

I'm going to use spoiler tags, to give you time to bail, but it's news going forward (so no one else bother.)

Wrestling Observer:

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
It has been confirmed that WWE officials were made aware on either Thursday or Friday that Daniel Bryan will not be able to wrestle on the Money in the Bank show and that on the show tonight it is expected they will strip him of the title and announce that a Money in the Bank ladder match will determine the new champion.

the new quest to make it right, again, for Bryan begins starting ... after MITB.

Cesaro could just win and be like "OMG what a moment for me in my life." But they could also get their two ladder matches back now with the main eventers world title match and then the briefcase match for the usual New Cru. If that's the case I feel like everyone from John Cena to Bray Wyatt to Seth Rollins is in play for the abeyanced title.

Let him heal properly. Use this to elevate someone and expand the main event picture. Give Bryan a title shot when he comes back.

This isn't difficult to do. It's only bad if we convince ourselves that Bryan will be Zigglered, and I don't think the audience will let that happen. Look what they did to Batista.

Further reports are saying that Bryan's neck isn't doing well. This may be me being overly concerned, but at this point I'm less concerned about the "when" he will back and more worried about *if* he will be coming back.

The likelihood that Bryan will be Zigglered - like so many before him - when he does make it back is rather high, considering what it took to get him the title in the first place. It's on us, the fanbase, to make sure that we don't allow them to sink back into their baser instincts.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

At least WWE has tried everything to make it work.

It's simultaneously disappointing and exciting. I'm hoping they don't just put it on Cesaro there and either put it on Cena to drop it to Brock at SummerSlam, or uh... CM Punk (kidding).

Either way, I hope this gets rid of the briefcase for a year. I'm really tired of that thing.

We are coming up on literally the 1 year anniversary of warnings that WWE was about to punt Bryan back to the midcard ASAP.

If they want to preserve whatever their plan is for Cesaro it could also mean a stay of execution for having two ladder matches on the PPV. Maybe the MITB Miracle Streak wasn't having no Bryan/Kane stretcher match and corrected itself.

I officially have no fears about Daniel Bryan coming back as a mid-carder. If I had a fear, it'd be that they try to get clever and bring him back as a heel spouting conspiracy theories for Cena to shoot down or something like that.

So, if we assume a single, exciting Seven Man Money In The Bank Match for the vacant title, who goes in? Cena and Bray would have to be there. They could go all in and drop Orton/Rollins/Reigns/Ambrose into that match, leaving an open spot for a wild card like Kane or Cesaro. Or they could take the Shield stuff out into a standalone Orton/Rollins vs. Ambrose/Reigns match, which means they'd need Kane and Cesaro and might have to throw Big Show in and quickly promote up Big E and Rusev. If Cesaro's in, I guess Sheamus could be, too. Maybe RVD to fall off things and kind of injure himself, but Barrett would need something to do on the card, too, right?

I'm assuming HHH doesn't work the Money In The Bank match under any scenario, though I'd actually kind of like to see it as part of his fountain of youth miracle worker run.

Edited to add: I just remembered Del Rio is already in the damn thing. They should just award the unified titles to him as the only person currently eligible to win the match.

Cesaro needs to stay the hell away from the title. Its going back on Cena. Cena/Brock II is a money making PPV, Cesaro vs. anyone isn't. I like Cesaro, but he needs more time.

If they wanted to have Bryan keep the title, they could have random face attack Kane when the match starts and have Bryan help them throw him on the stretcher. The fans are going to shit all over this. Sucks for Bryan, I don't have the faith Bryan will be back to the level he was. Cesaro, Rollins and Bray are nipping at his IWC heels.

[fantasy booking]

Put the belt on Brock.

When Bryan comes back healthy, heyman says he has to go through Cesaro first.
