If it's a work, then the only people they've worked so far are the people on the internet who pay close attention to this (and probably would've been watching anyway for the follow up for the NXT angle.) They would have to get the firing angle over on TV for it to be worth the effort.
I'm kind of wondering if he is going to get the Matt Hardy 'not with the company' jumping from the crowd gig? I'm not sure how that fits with the angle, but maybe the angle got a lot bigger than the WWE was thinking.
Whenever I think, "Oh, maybe it's a work," I keep going back to what John Orquiola said on page one of this thread, which is something I also thought of at the outset: In the storyline, Bryan isn't under WWE contract because he didn't win NXT. So what would they be firing him from?

This is what I'm talking about.
If he doesnt show up on TV and there is no mention of his absence, it's real.
If he doesnt show up on TV and they play up how fired he is, it's a work.
I'm leaning towards the first one. Like someone already pointed out, the only "evidence" we have that this is a work is (A) the curious timing of his firing, (B) Cena's worked/shoot Twitter, and (C) all of this business (2nd/3rd hand and unconfirmed, mind you) about the alleged post-Benoit anti-choke policy that may or may not even be a thing. All of this seems like pretty weak evidence if you ask me. You did ask me, right?
So now we've been through nearly an entire business day at Wall Street. Shouldn't shareholders be privy to exactly what's going on with the main roster by now? I understand in the grand scheme of things, Danielson isn't going to cause a major change in their stock price but shouldn't his real-life status have been reported by now on the corporate site?

Not the first person to have that thought. Then again, the corporate site only mentions one release since December: Carlito. So, uh, who knows.

His twitter hasn't been removed from the official WWE Twitter list of NXT Season 1 rookies, but that probably means even less than all the other speculative evidence/blind hoping going on. In fact if it was removed i'd probably think they were trying too hard to make him look fired for real and think it was more likely a work. I apologise for the additional mooting of all points relating to this issue.

I disagree. The minority has now shifted to those that don't know how to utilize Facebook or Twitter by now. Plus, if you just type in Bryan Danielson (or Daniel Bryan) into google, the news is the first thing in your face (along with, amusingly enough, a picture of Wade Barrett.)
What's not being discussed too much is that the original posting may have been a botch in the first place. Maybe it was intended to be a test for future viral marketing, or maybe it was an elaborate in-joke from go. Either way, perhaps they completely underestimated the reach that they had. This would explain away the Michael Bay size plotholes the announcing made in the first place.

It's not being discussed because it's a giant leap and totally incredible.
Please, people...stop the madness. There's speculation and then there's speculation. (And I'm not even that big a fan of speculation in the first place, because people WAY too quickly leap from "educated" to "just makin' shit up.")
RAW's only a few hours away - let's try to hold on for another seven hours (give or take) and then we may be able to make some more educated guesses.

Umm...aren't his kids 4 and 2? (quickly checks Wikipedia)...yup one month away from being 4 and 2...would they really understand what they see on TV? And for that matter, would they really be up at that time watching WWE RAW! I mean my son (who is 16 months old) watches Baby Signing Time and can sign what he sees on TV, but really having that specific incident cause them to cry? That really is stretching the logic. And is totally laughable.
Oh that and we'd hear about his 'fit of rage spitting' on Eve Torres by now too.

My company has hired and fired many employees since January and as far as I know, none of them have been reported on the company website. Including the release of a major exec and hiring from a competing company. Probably guys who move a lot more money than Brian Danielson.

I believe only wellness-related releases are listed on the corporate website. And there wasn't even one listed in December, unless you count Umaga being released from life.
Also, bck in 1999 the title changed hands twice (three times if you count the Rumble PPV too) between the Rumble and WM. And, as for the reason the title is untouchable, they want to give the champ some momentum heading into Wrestlemania.
