Interesting that none of the guys the D-Backs got from the Red Sox were part of the trade. I am guessing we just gave the Brewers 3/4 of their starting infield (for better or worse) next year.
Pretty good trade as the D-Backs didn't give up anyone they really wanted to keep (other than Overbay, and Sexson replaces him, at least for one year)

so infield will be Sexson, Kata, Cintron, Hillenbrand... | TheCow

They got Schilling out (with Webb coming up behind him, Schilling became expendable, as we all figured out). From what I read, there actually was a young pitcher (name?) that went from the Red Sox to the D-Backs, then was shipped on.
As it is, I actually expect 'Zona to make a run at keeping Sexson around. He isn't exactly the oldest guy around...

Of course, an AP article on ESPN.com says it's near completion.
Richie, we hardly knew ye. Think I'll go comfort myself with a few of Milwaukee's finest barley pops, stick Selig's mug up on a dartboard, and go hope for some Paul Molitor votes on this year's Cooperstown ballot.

When Sexson gets traded, he should be dealt for prospects, not current big leaguers (with the possible exception of a first baseman).

As for the players... good God, is Sexson really worth SIX players? Smacks a bit of Herschel, if you ask me. Except I don't think Overbay/Spivey/etc. are gonna pan out to be THAT good. Maybe the Happy Fun Bunch of Brewers Farmhands could do it?

No kidding nobody thought of Sexson as a great player...he WAS in Milwaukee, after all. *grumble* But ESPN did say he smacked just as many dingers last year as one Barry Bonds, and he ain't so bad. :-)
That pitcher who was touted as the best prospect in the Red Sox farm system better pan out, or Bud's given us the big beer bottle shoved you-know-where yet again.

I know the main beef here is that even if sexson hits 40 homers or so, is that going to off-set the loss of Schilling especially if Randy struggles and batista goes somewhere else?
Fossum can start but he's probably gonna be needed for lefty relief unless Randolph/Oropesa/Orosco somehow works out...
