The one thing I will miss the most is how he spit out his gum walking down the ramp and swatted it into the crowd. It was just a way to show that he was an arrogant SOB heel and I loved every minute of it.

I remember Curt's feud with Kerry Von Erich over the IC strap at SummerSlam 1990, the awesomeness of his heel turn on the Horsemen and nWo induction at WarGames 1997, and how he paid tribute to his just-passed friend Rick Rude at a Minneapolis Nitro in '99 (the one where Sandman debuted as "Hardcore Hak") by doing the hip swivel...
...but what I remember most about Curt is his awesome heel-ishness, and his nearly cartoonish over-the-top selling, a'la Disco Inferno. So damn entertaining.
This suck-diddly-ucks. May he rest in peace.
Star wipe, and...we're out.

I've still got the really bad photos of Hennig winning by countout, strapping on the belt and posing in the corner. Easily one of my top 5 favorite performers of all time.

Probably my all-time favorite going back to when I was 12 or so, and the fan-momentum of his "Mr. Perfect" run is the reason I'm still watching today.

Having been a long time reader of the board, I have decided to sign up and put my 2 cents in.
I agree with all of you. My favorite Henning moments were the Video clips of Henning shooting hoops (making half court shots everytime), throwing a perfect spiral 60 yards to a receiver, etc.

His wrestling, character and I even really liked his stint as an announcer. He would always go down as one guy that I just can't believe never won the big title in the WWF. So talented and entertaining.
Just thinking maybe the WWE released him they knew something we didn't know. But I don't want to begin to speculate now. This is just very sad news

Curt was the one man I thought deserving of earning the triple crown of World Titles. Alas while politics kept him from ever winning the WWF or WCW belts, I always remember his victory over Nick Bockwinkel for the AWA moment as one of my early faves. Even though Curt was supposed to be a heel, it was great to see someone young go over the AWA old timers.

When will these guys learn? You would think after watching his close friend Rick Rude go out the same way he would change his ways. Obviously this wasn't the case. It's sick to say but if you were playing a dead pool the sure way to win would be to load up on old wrestlers. Old being 40. It's a shame really. If wrestling was recognized as a *major sport* there would be public outrage in the media. It truely is a 'what have you done for me lately' business. It's sickening to see this every couple of months.

Nice as it would be to see a Mr Perfect video package to start RAW, I wouldn't expect one tonight cuz they probably haven't had time to get one ready. Smackdown is far more likely.
It would be nice to be wrong, but realistically speaking its a longshot, and not cuz the WWE is cruel and insensitive but because the man died at 1 this afternoon. When you consider travel and prepping for RAW and dark matches and everything, there's really not enough time to put together a video package for the same night without it being a rush job.

Gee, I even had an AWA Gagne's Raiders toy of him. As a matter of fact, I still have it to this day. When the news broke out earlier, I just felt a lead weight fall in my stomach.
Hey, at least he'll be up there with Lou Thesz, Andre, Wahoo, JYD, Owen and other departed wrestling heroes of ours.
Curt Hennig will never be forgotten by all of us fans.

Granted, they usually ARE cruel and insensitive, but they usually do the video tributes to departed wrestlers...and despite everything else, their production crew does a great job with the video packages and such. It'd be a nice touch for them to just have a brief graphic at the start of the show, or just a passing mention by JR during the broadcast.
As for NWA-TNA, I'm sure they'll have something, especially since he worked for them fairly recently. And yes, keep Roddy Piper as far away from that arena as possible.

just a damn shame obviously..... Henning was in my humble opinion one of the very best of the 80's; by far one of the only smaller guys that was able to look like a threat in the big man era of the WWF.

| #40 Posted on 10.2.03 1728.40 | My friend Joe, who is my only close friend who loves wrestling more than me, always bullshits with me on AIM about wrestling, and I went to pick up some dinner, came back and saw he left a messages before he left: Dude, I can't believe it... Mr. Perfect died today! I hoped that it wasn't true, went to 411 and it didn't come up... then I hit F5 and saw the sad news. I remeber Joe and I being stoked to see him last year at the Rumble where he did do the gum swat on the ropes people talked about in this thread. Hennig was fun to watch, he sold well, had some cool moves, and had the PerfectPlex. I remeber one of my football coaches telling me about an old WWF house show, and the thing he remebered most was what a great heel Perfect was aganist Hogan, arrogantly refusing a 3-count and losing because of it due to Hogan's hulking up. Even with the West Texas Rednecks the guy made me laugh. In a Ric Flair thread on this board, someone mentioned that Flair was the kind of guy you saw on TV and new it was a pro wrestling show. Same with Hennig. In his cool tights, with his arrogant character, he made wrestling larger than life and has been around forever. RIP Hennig, and thank you for entertaining us... truly sad news.
