I stole my little brother's N64 and it's back at my apartment. Put in the Zelda for that machine...and walked around doing NOTHING for about an hour. Took the game out, never played it again. I even took his player's guide cheat thing to WALK YOU THROUGH and I *still* never even got a sword!
Thank god for Super Mario 64 so I don't feel completely too old for video games. (I'm currently sitting at about 80 stars out of 120.)
I miss the excitement of new Super Nintendo games. Those were tough...but beatable. The way they should be.

I'm on my third trip through GTA3, currently on hold while I toy with other games. The second time through I got 100% completion.
The paparazzi mission isn't too bad if you approach from the right angle. The reporter's boat tends to take wide turns, so if you know which way she's going, you can cut across the turn early and get some free shots in. The trick is remaining close enough to keep her in range of your guns, as your boat is too slow to close in if hers gets too far away.

MoH:F is a very fun game, but after the pure, heavenly controls of Halo, it will be a distant 2nd among next-gen FPS's. The only thing close to Halo on any console is Perfect Dark (Laptop Gun and Farsight are the best weapons in any game not named WORMS)

My first response was to ask if I should post "NO" in a 72-point font, or make it smaller but do it in neon green boldface and make it flash on and off.
But, for now, I'll take that back. After digging through a review or two, Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge may be the one "modernization" of Frogger that doesn't suck mightily. The Hasbro version (PSX and elsewhere) was pure trash, and do I even have to speak on "Frogger: The Great Quest?" FROGGER IS NOT ANTHROPOMORPHIC, DOES NOT WALK UPRIGHT, AND DOES NOT COLLECT COINS. Ahem. I digress.
Apparently, the makers of this one did some homework as to what made the arcade original great and made Hasbro's version execrable. Sites that trashed the first were much more comfortable with this one.
Caveat emptor, but if you like colorful platform games, give it a look.

| #35 Posted on 28.6.02 1359.00 | I just cleared Panzer Dragoon for my Sega Saturn. Great ending...the music is amazing on this game. Best thing about this game...is that the music is playable through my CD player!
Has anyone beaten the following games?
-TMNT for the NES
-Superman (the arcade game)
-the Smackdown! series for the PSone/PS2
-WWF No Mercy for the N64
I cleared Virtua Fighter 2 for the Saturn as well...and what sucks is that there aren't endings for the characters at all. I can't believe that.
Last thing: NHL Stanley Cup for the SNES: I found out how to flip the puck into the net...I beat the game with a perfect 84 and 0 record...I won every game in the playoffs, no ties, no losses...and all I got was a screen with some jabroni hoisting the cup. That's pathetic. I even used Ottawa!! Geez!
Take care, everyone

How could you not love the Holy Hand Grenade and the Concrete Donkey? Just the obsurdity of a giant donkey falling from the sky, hitting your guy, and falling all the way through the terrain was hilarious. And I loved to use the Holy Hand Grenade just because of the audio asssociated with it. "Halleluia!" (sp?)

A 3-4 hour battle? Good God! I'm glad that I never picked up FFT, even though I heard it was a really good game. Does it at least give you an opportunity to save during the battle at some point?

First off, I also own FFT. I've racked up three-digit hours playing it; I don't have the heart to add up all of my savefile totals. Believe me when I say that "three-hour battle" is a massive exaggeration -- if you're intentionally taking your time and drawing things out, the toughest battles in the game might take you fifteen minutes to finish. (You can't save in mid-battle, but it's _really_ not that bad time-wise.)
What takes the time in this game is that even _routine_ battles take a few minutes to finish. Enemy levels in random battles tend to ramp up smoothly with your characters' levels, so nobody's a complete pushover. Since battles are the only substantial way to build up your job points, and since you need a TON of those, you spend a lot of time levelling up against generic foes in a slow-but-steady process. In typical FF style, you can build your characters up to absurd power levels; any char can end up mastering every job and skill in the game, and pick and choose from multiple methods of plowing through the enemy. Once you have a standard party of five set up, there is ZERO reason to build up anyone in the game besides those five.
One NPC who joins your party partway through the game has been touted by many as a "balance-killer" (i.e. once you have this NPC on your team, you don't need anyone else). I find that hilarious, because I've won the game three times and NEVER USED that NPC; by the time I get him, my base five characters are so strong that the NPC is way below them in abilities, and he'd essentially have to be built up from scratch. (The NPC does carry a nice sword, though.)
There is one job class that is ludicrously overpowered (the Calculator); when fully mastered, it lets mages sit back and selectively decimate the entire battlefield from a distance. Battles become a simple matter of (a) selecting the proper spell (usually Holy), (b) selecting an appropriate combination of numbers and height/level/exp/AP, (c) nuking the room and (d) repeating the process. With one or more characters with full Calculator skills, no enemy is even remotely a threat to your party. Bosses, flunkies, wild creatures, fantastic monsters... nothing can stand against you. The toughest battles in the game are near the beginning. (Excepting one -- the Ramza/Wiegraf showdown is easy if you have the right skills but brutal if you don't, and the second part of that battle is deadly without one or more Calculators.)
Likewise, building up job points is more perseverance and attrition than skill and dexterity. If a character does ANYTHING on a turn, no matter how unproductive, he earns job points; you get points for damaging an enemy, for drinking a healing potion, for successfully casting a spell or using a skill that has even the slightest effect, or even for attacking your own teammates. One skill (Accumulate) can be repeated endlessly to keep racking up points. Simply enter a battle, cast "Stop" or "Don't Move" on the last remaining enemy, have every character keep using Accumulate while the enemy's stuck, lather, rinse and repeat, and you'll build up skills at an astonishing rate.
But enough about the low points. The game has an awesome storyline (my favorite of all the FF games), well-rounded main characters, an enjoyable game engine (closer to Tactics Ogre than to typical FF gameplay), and tons of depth. Everybody should try it at least once; by the time you figure out how to finish the first tough battle (Slums in Dorter), AND do it in a way that lets your Thief steal the Long Bow before your idiot NPCs kill the Archer carrying it, you'll be hooked.
