If they are going to do a brand cross over PPV, then each GM should be able to pick ten wrestlers each from their rosters. All ten names get put into a hat. On a board is the matches listed for the PPV like so:

1. Curtain Jerker - Strap
2. Ladder
3. Tag Team/Tables
4. Submission
5. Cage
6. Fatal Fourway Elimination
7. 2 of 3 falls
8. Last Man Standing/Street Fight

Then at the beginning of the show, show each roster of ten sitting in a seprarate room watching the teleprompter as Stephanie and Eric pick the names of for the first match. When the names are announced, those wrestlers head to the ring and start the match. When one match ends, Eric and Steffo pick the wreslters for the next match.

This could be an awesome way of having a storyline for both shows for two months leading up the PPV. Imagine, Eric and Steffo not promising a spot to anyone and saying it all depends on how they wreslte for the next few shows. Wreslters would be busting their a$$es off to get one of the coveted ten spots. As we get down to the wire, their would be two spots left and maybe a shocking entry (Stevie? Spanky?) to throw everyone off. At the PPV, no titles are on the line, just wreslting for the glory of being called the better promotion.

The matchups could be endless. And the type of matches would be awesome. and with no titles on the line, the winners could get cash instead to make it seem like they are wrestling for something of meaning. Or have $100,000 go to the winning GM to have him/her split it how she /he sees fit. That could lead to feuds right after the PPV (Cena pissed at Benoit because Benoit's loss cost him $).

I think it could work well and it would bring in the element of surprise as no one fan-wise would know who is wreslting who until their names are drawn.

Any thoughts?

The first concern that comes to mind is that, given that these are all gimmick matches, the involved wrestlers are gonna have to mesh well to make the match-up worth it.

If you have guys from different brands, it's possible that they haven't wrestled each other in a while or ever. If they don't know each other well enough to work a decent bout on the fly, you're looking at a potentially muddled PPV. They won't have a house show to practice.

I like the idea of such a show, like the WCW vs. Japan show years back. But I don't see the WWE selling a PPV without announcing who's meeting whom in the ring. I wouldn't want to slap down $30 with the possibility of Albert killing Hurricane or Kane walking over Kidman.

Just so you know, there's no such thing as an actual random drawing in wrestling. I'm pretty sure all the match up's would be fairly even. Say even Richards made it from raw, i'm sure there would be a long shot from smackdown as well, say Funaki...a gazillion dollars says that they would face of at the ppv as a reslut of the random drawing.

I like the idea though

I'm going to salvage this topic by bringing up this years Survivor Series by asking what type of PPV do you thing we should get.

Classic: Survivor Series where we get teams from both shows facing each other.

Regular Joint PPV: Idvivdual matches protaining to the Brands themselves.

OR

Mesh of both Old and New. A survior seris match involving A team from each brand plus the builds from the previous stories. I'd personally like to see a classic survior series but I know it probably won't happen.

I'm hoping we get at least one Survivor Series match for each brand, and continuation of both brands' stories.

Rumor has it that WWE is planning Taker/Vince in a "Buried Alive" match, which I think may actually do well (what smark wouldn't want to see Vince buried?).

I'd rather see a combination of both. One oldschool Survivor Series match would be enough to satisfy me. As we all know, it's hard to fit all the deserving people into a split PPV, well here's an easily excuse to put 10 (or 8, if you only want to go middleschool) guys into a match.

It would be easy enough to explain, too. Have Vince come out, say he was bored and decided to make the two shows face off to see who really has the better brand.

What they should do at Survivor Series is, after the book the main events for both brands and any other grudge/secondary championship matches, take the five biggest names left on the roster on both shows and throw them into a RAW v. Smackdown Survivor Series match, similar to the "Wildcard Match" from the 95 (I think) show.

Let's say we've got Goldberg/Kane, and another Lesnar/Undertaker match at Survivor Series. That could give us, say, Rob Van Dam, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair and Randy Orton VS Kurt Angle, The Big Show, John Cena, Chris Benoit and Eddy Guerrero.

That way, you could build up the match on both shows - again with people trying to butter up the GMs and get a spot in the match - and dissention among the team members can lead to individual fueds for both RAW and Smackdown.

They could even say that the December PPV is on the line, making it more "fair" that only one brand gets a show between Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. (Of course, the other brand would get the February PPV, but there's no reason to think about that just yet.)

I like the Raw vs Smackdown Survivor Series match.

Maybe putting a shot at their brand's respective World Championship on the line to the man who scores the final pinfall.

But is WWE smart enough to do that?

If they wanted to get REALLY old-school on us, it'd be a card full of Survivor Series elimination matches, with the winners all advancing to (you guessed it) the ULTIMATE SURVIVAL match. Now for the 21st century twist, make it a modified War Games. For example....

Team A: Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero

Team B: Randy Orton, Ric Flair and Maven

Team C: A-Train, Big Show

Team D: Spike, D-Von and Buh Buh Dudley

The random draw starts with D-Von and Eddie, and then after five minutes, man #3 enters (Orton). A new man enters every two minutes thereafter, with submission from one of the members being the only way a team can be eliminated. The catch is that a man can only be eliminated once ALL of his teammates are in the ring, so you're all rewarded for having a lot of guys advance. So if Eddie takes a ton of punishment at #1, nobody can actually eliminate him until Rey enters (which could be at #10 in this scenario).

Then again, maybe I'm just desperate for a new WarGames match.

As a matter a fact it seems to me like a unrelizable PPV ...and even if the wwe can do it..it willbe veeeeeeery buried one without a MONSTER Main event like Brock VS GOLDberg for the Undisputed title, the King Of Brands Champ or Whatever ....

Lets wait for WM for somethinf Epic...after all its the twenty anniversary...they must come with something huge this year

cheers

But there's no way that the match wouldn't end in a double DQ or double countout. Having one show win over the other would be like Vince holding a PPV to announce "Yep, Smackdown is the worse show"

I think too many people are getting excited about the brand vs. brand matches they might one day have. With the possible exception of Tazz sometimes, no one working for the WWE seems to care that there's another 'brand' going around. Why should we?

Thank you, Tribal Prophet.

What could WWE possibly gain by putting one brand over the other?

OR it could end in a shocking, swervey screw job with someone on one of the teams using the joint PPV as an opportunity to jump to the other brand, for instance. Jumping brands in the context of a heel turn in a main event PPV match could make the competing brand thing seem exciting and stuff.

Sooo... the WWE builds-up what would be promoted as a one time only deal, probably listing it as the be-all and end-all of matches between the best wrestlers in the world today. Pitting brand against brand to see who's the best, making this probably the main event of a major PPV like WM or Summerslam, and then they end the match by having Edge or RVD turn on their team, thus invalidating the entire reason any fans who bought the PPV had in the first place?

Actually, I seriously could see them booking that...
