CNN's Crossfire, on the air since '82, is being canceled. (CBC New Brunswick! with a happy photo but really an AP story.)

Story Distilled
Jon Stewart: All you guys do is yell. You never discuss! I HATE TIES
CNN Boss: By jove, this man has a point
Ratings Guy: Eh.

Tucker Carlson, as was previously otherwise presumed, is going to MSNBC to host a low rated talk show. The rest of the group (plus a Carlson replacement) will do segments on "Inside Politics" and other CNN shows.

WashingtonPost's article adds that Captial Gang will also end this year, but no one seems to have an exact date in mind for either of these moves.

(TV? Politics? Eh. Obviously, the CNN boss thought "TV", but what does he know)

They should put Carlson back with Bill Press. They had a good repor and would occasionally let the other one finish a sentence. Also, it would get Press away from Pat Buchanan, who really should be out of a job anyway just on principle.

Crossfire had become pure raving drivel. I am not sure how anyone could watch it and actually get anything out of it anymore.

I just read this in an AOL article and I'm quite suprised. The headline read "Did comedian (Jon Stewart) kill Crossfire?" I thought it was going to report that the shows ratings had dropped since Stewart's appearance or something. I had no idea that it was being cancelled.

Overall, I liked the show. I totally agreed with Stewart when he appeared on the show, but, oddly enough, I really did find Crossfire to be an entertaining show, with Tucker Carlson and James Carville being especially entertaining.

I wonder how much Jon Stewart's appearance really has to do with this decision since his name is being dropped a lot in these reports.

The answer to WWE's financial problems...

Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.

Nil. It's a sexy angle for the people reporting and a convenient excuse for CNN.

With Crossfire AND Cap Gang disappearing, I really wonder if this is it for Robert Novak. A lot of people really hate him, and he's burned more than a few bridges over his television career. I suppose FOX could give him a half hour on the weekends...

I was facinated to see that MSNBC seems to be planning to give Carlson a show in Primetime. That didn't work for CNN, as I recall. MSNBC needs to upgrade their conservative host list, so maybe Novak and Carlson take that for MSNBC. (Although, I think Novak's got awhile yet on his contract with CNN).

And MSNBC needs lower ratings to be considered successful.

Jon Stewart on last night's Daily Show:

"I had no idea that all you had to do to get rid of a show was say that you don't like it. [pause] According To Jim is hurting America."

Actually, CNN should take Carlson out back and shoot him. Then, they should get back to what made them good in the first place. You know, the news. Leave the yelling to Bill O'Reilly (who I can't stand) and Chris Matthews (who I have to admit that I enjoy tremendously.)

As for Novak, I can't figure out how this guy keeps getting work. His role in the whole Valerie Plame/Joseph Wilson deal should have led to any journalism organization that's remotely connected to him to drop him like a hot potato. I'm all for reporter's privilege, but not when a CIA agent is being outed for political payback.

Jon Klein's done an admirable job of trying to steer CNN back to news, but then WTF is he doing by going off-the-board over at HeadlineNews with a different format in primetime? The man preaches news; so why mess with a viable and consistent format?

As for the Capital Gang -- that sucks bigtime. Besides, Stewart never said anything about that show.

It will be interesting, though, to see what the ex-CNNers do over at MSNBC to try and turn the tide around. I think Carlson's show needs to be titled "Tucker!" The exclamation point is a bow tie, btw.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.
