If this injury is serious, I'd like to see them somehow segway this into a Kane/Goldberg match. I know that there really isn't a lot of time to build it up, but for some reason, I would dig that match right now. If I could indulge in a little fantasy booking...
This week on RAW, (if the injury is that bad) Goldberg says something to the effect of "let's not wait until Summerslam...let's just do it tonight". HHH accepts. Goldberg wins it in a Honky-Tonk Man kind of squash. He utterly destroys HHH leaving the crowd cheering. The next week have some type of altercation with Goldberg and Kane...maybe Goldberg saving someone from Kane's wrath. Voila! Match for Summerslam! I'd like to see Kane no-sell the spear and laugh it off...but I don't think it'd go down like that...
Think about the repercussions of Trips losing his belt just because he was injured. It's a sure fire way for him to moan that it wasn't due to him not drawing, performing, etc. Goldberg Should not take this man down, give it to someone with at least a couple of months of a future, and someone who can carry it without injuries *CoughCoughJerichoCoughCough*
Maybe they could use this in the storyline. The injured champion is fighting a monster of a competitor. Goldberg attacks the groin (however he would do that) the whole match. And Trips fights back. This could build into a face turn that they have been talking about. Somebody attacks him, but he fights back and puts on one hell of a match.
But, I'm still skeptical about this whole face turn idea. Not that it wouldn't be a good idea, but that it could happen. I mean they JUST printed those Evolution shirts. And they are trying to sell them like crazy. I don't think all of Evolution could turn face in one fell swoop, but maybe I'm wrong.
And just when the need to bring up HHH in every single thread on the board finally seems to have died off, we get a 2 page discussion about his groin...
The answer is actually pretty simple: if HHH is still injured by SummerSlam, don't make that the main event.
You put Angle-Lesnar II on top (because let's face it, that's going to be the better match anyways) and have HHH-Goldberg at about the halfway point in the show. Do, as others have suggested, a quick Honky Tonk Man style squash. That would instantly accomplish three things:
(1) Make HHH look like a sport for ``jobbing'' to Goldberg. (2) Continue to build Goldberg as a monster. (3) Give HHH the excuse that he was only beat by Goldberg because he was injured. You could give Goldberg strong challenges from Jericho and Kane on the next Raw PPV, and HHH looks like a strong challenger by the time he's (fully) recovered and set to return.
I think the scenario works because Goldberg isn't going to get the belt for a long time, and give HHH credit: he is the type of guy to work through injury whenever its possible.
And finally.... imagine the reaction if Goldberg beat HHH in under a minute?

'The RAW crew is getting ready to depart for another “trip from hell” as most know it. The crew will leave for Australia in just under two hours to do shows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The flight will take 24 straight hours, which is an unbearable time to be trapped on an airplane. They will proceed to fly home directly after the Saturday show to be in Vancouver on Sunday in order to get their bearings for RAW on Monday. The company gave the RAW crew this past weekend off from house shows, but it is still extremely difficult being a WWE superstar.'
And Hunter injures himself so badly that he can't make this difficult trip.
Hmm. What are the odds?

So how did this injury actually happen? For all we know Goldberg could have hoofed him in the g'nads. I mean, can we really blame HHH for the larnyx injury? Wasn't that more RVD's fault? And not the kind of thing that would really matter how "run down" you are?

So, Tracker, are you saying that HHH is too damn lazy to make the trip? I know I've been critical of the guy, but I think most of the in my eyes fair criticism of him has rested upon his attitude rather than work ethic. I really believe he tries in the ring. The efforts are mixed and his political maneuvering often screws favorites of mine, but I don't believe for a second it's because Trips is lazy, IMHO.

Didn't an injury prevent HHH from making a similar trip earlier this year, or was that someone else? I know I remember reading an interview where someone was claiming that they wanted to go on some International tour or another (perhaps the Asian tour (not the recent Japan tour, the one before that)) and it seems like it was HHH, but it could have been someone else. I'm sure someone here can find it.

It's a harsh suggestion, I know, to say that the champ is willingly not taking the belt to Australia. He's the toppermost of the poppermost for the Raw crew, and he should be there even if he doesn't wrestle. Now, he's not going at all.
But didn't he get injured right before the last trip to Australia too? That would be an odd coincidence. Am I remembering that wrong? Somebody help us out here.

It wasn't the Australia tour because he was in a 3way with Rock and Brock at Global Warning. I'm thinking it was the India tour where everyone ended up getting really sick and such.

He missed the India Tour due to the throat injury in the Elimination Chamber. That's the only instance of a missed tour I can find.

The India tour was what I was thinking of, just couldn't remember when it was/which injury it was. So much for starting a conspiracy theory with at least some concrete evidence.
So let's try another one! Is it a coincidence that shorly before international tours, HHH wrestles people who are known for sloppily hurting opponents? Wasn't there a big tour of Asia shortly after the HHH/Steiner feud?
I have to give HHH credit. If it wasn't for his boring monologues and even more boring matches, I would have never discovered great shows like "Monster Garage" and "American Chopper."

It's been in my experience that most groin injuries don't happen like that. If it is the injury that everybody is talking about, it happened as a result of lack of stretching, or because of GNC supplements. No, not 'roids, but Weight Gainers, Creatine, or other mass building products are far from safe and have a history of contributing to injuries, from muscle tears and strains to joints being blown out. It may be in HHH's best interests to lay of the GNC for a while.
To get the feeling of the injury, rack about 300 lbs. on your shoulders, like for a squat, then do a full split instantaneously. I injured my groin once while playing football and couldn't get into a 3 point stance for two weeks, and walked like I dropped the soap in the shower for 4. Add in the fact I had to walk around a high school like this, and it was pure hell. It is an unbearably painful injury, to be sure, but it is possible that HHH could be back to at least 80% for SummerSlam so long as he rests properly and remembers to stretch as well as lift.
Also, whoever aluded to Benoit as a symbol of health in wrestling and then refered to vertebrae fusion as the "only injury"; a broken neck is pretty dangerous, and while it is certainly courageous of Benoit to continue on after a year's worth of rehab from a career ending injury, HHH has suffered many more, as you have pointed out. It takes something to keep coming back from career ending injuries, and knocking somebody who's willing to stand up from the fall is both rediculous and asenine.
These injuries are annoying the you know what out of me, so instead of the usual "I hope it isn't serious" line, I will just throw my hat in the Kane/Goldberg camp. If Shane hired Goldberg to defend his family's honor against Kane at Summerslam, that would really beef up both Kane's and Goldberg's stock at the same time. But, as the black sheep of Wienerville, I still wish HHH all the luck as he continues to make his way through the injury. He may not be loved by most of us, but he'll leave a void no matter what.
