I was building my own Wrestling Federation for personal enjoyment using EWR and came across a number of interesting questions. I was deciding whether or not to put certain wrestlers in as Faces or Heels.

Two things: 1) Has there ever been a wrestler with a decent length career that has only ever been a heel or face? Eddie Guerrero comes to mind, but my mind tends to work quite slowly.

and 2) I think most of these guys have been both in their careers, I was interested as to your opinions of whether you enjoyed them more as faces or heels.

Chris Benoit
Kurt Angle
Chris Jericho
Mick Foley
The Rock
Shawn Michaels
Scott Hall
Hunter Hearst Helmsley
Bret Hart
Curt Hennig
Edge
John Cena
Christian
Eddie Guerrero
Rob Van Dam
Rey Mysterio Jr.
AJ Styles
Ric Flair
Sting
Raven

Thanks for your input. Just curious as to where other people stand.

of the original wcw workers (i.e. guys who didn't jump ship from wwf to wcw) in my opinion jericho was the greatest heal, and sting the greatest face.

it says so right here in the wcw handbook!

Eddie was a face early in his WCW career.

Sting would be the best example.

For 2) I enjoyed Angle more as a heel than as a face, although he was alright as a face, too.

Ricky Steamboat never worked as a heel. I can't think of anyone else that I'm sure has never turned.

I coulda sworn Dusty joined the NWO as a heel, but then everyone was in some incarnation of the group ...

They tried to push Sting as a heel in WCW's sunset days, but the fans supportd his attacks on face Hogan.

Hennig was born to be a bad guy. He had the face for it. Same with Owen and Shawn and Hunter. Bret was never a credible bad guy for me. And Foley blossomed as a face because he was allowed to be so naturally funny.

I liked Triple H as the cocky heel leader of DX, but, alas, those days of putting people over have long since past ...

What does this have to do with being a heel or a face. Ugh. I hate him too but hate belongs in its proper place: churches and schools.

Eddie's also a face right now

And he was a face when he was paired with Chyna in the whole "Mamacita!" era. I always enjoy him more as the ultimate dick heel.

Also, I love EWR..such a fun game.

Well, I thought this looked like fun, and I have a little time to kill, so here goes:

Chris Benoit- Face. I'm actually a little back and forth on this one. But, he seems to be really over with the crowd right now as a face, so that should say something.

Kurt Angle- Heel. The guy is such a natural heel. He probably could be a good face, but the last time they turned him face, Vince refused to let him act like anything but a dork, so I guess we'll never know. Oh well. The guy is so goddamn good as a heel, that having him never turn face again won't affect me in the least.

Chris Jericho- Heel. Yes, Jericho is awesome as a face too. But I was getting sick of him as a face in 2001, and I don't think I've ever been sick of his heel act, so there ya' go. Fuck what other people say. Keep this man as a heel. He's one of the few genuine heels left in the business.

Mick Foley- Oooh. That's tough. He was awesome in both roles numerous times in his career. I guess I'll just let the flip of a coin decide and go with face.

The Rock- Heel. Another one who is AWESOME in both roles. But I found Rock the most entertaining during his heel run in late-98 and early-99. The 'this is not sing-a-long with the champ' bit still has me cracking up whenever I watch a tape.

Shawn Michaels- Heel. The fans were never totally behind him as a face in the during his main-event run in the mid-90's, so there you go.

Scott Hall- Face. He has a natural charisma that gets the fans behind him, no matter what role he's playing. The fans will easily love Hall, as a face or a heel.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley- Heel. The guy sucks as a face. Plain and simple. Did you SEE his stuff in early 2002? "HA! He's making dick jokes about Billy and Chuck!!! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Pretty funny when you realize the guy carrys around a sledgehammer as one big dick-metaphor." Of course, I love Triple H the most when he's out with a quad-injury. But I guess that's asking too much.

Bret Hart- Heel. I can't explain it, but I've always LOVED Bret Hart's heel act. The guy is awesome as a face, but I was always more entertained with him when he was a heel. He had the dick role down to a tee.

Curt Hennig- Heel. I never really enjoyed Hennig as a face. It was his heel act that actually initially got me in to wrestling. Fuck Hulk Hogan. I was the biggest Mr. Perfect fan alive when I was growing up. I'll cherish my blue Mr. Perfect t-shirt forever.

Edge- Heel. I never really thought that Edge ever got the face role completely down. When he was a heel, he was bouncy, airhead with big teeth and long hair. When he was face, he was the exact same character. He just didn't insult the crowd anymore. I see Edge as being a Shawn Michaels, where the female crowd loves him, but the male crowd is VERY hesitant to get behind him.

John Cena- HEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry, but the guy completley sucks as a face. I really did not like Cena when WWE first brought him in. His face promos were horrendous! Now that he's a heel, though, I'm the biggest John Cena fan there is. WORD-FUCKING-LIFE!

Christian- Heel. Of course, they never have really given Chrsitian a true chance to shine as a face, so this might be unfair. But, he is a natural as a heel, so I guess it doesn't matter. One of the most under-utilized guys the WWE has. Nice haircut, too.

Eddie Guerrero- Heel. One of my favorite heels of all time. He has that natural charisma where he just walks out in front of a crowd, and the people want to hate him. That is very rare, and the WWE should cherish it.

Rob Van Dam- This one is tough. Personally, I think the best way for RVD to be a face is to act as a heel. Right now, he is a straight babyface, and there's not much depth to his character. Give him the cocky dick heel role, and the crowd will love him more than they already do now. I guarantee it. A very ass-backwards situation, but RVD is a very ass-backwards guy. I still love him, though. RVD! RVD! RVD!!!

Rey Mysterio Jr.- Face. But, has he ever been a heel before? I don't think it'd work with Rey. His in-ring style is gonna' make the crowd love him, no matter what.

AJ Styles- Heel. I always loved AJ Styles in the ring. But as a character, there was never any (and I mean ANY) depth to him. Once TNA turned him heel though, his personality started shining through. Good move.

Ric Flair- Heel. But, nowadays, I think they should have him as a face. The fans will never accept him as a heel. And ratings have always seemed to go down the last few years, the minute Flair turned heel. I think he was a better heel, but nowadays, he should be a total babyface.

Sting- Face. During his brief heel-run in 1999, he seemed very uncomftorable in the role. I guess it just wasn't in him. A natural face that fans love. Why change it?

Raven- Heel. Probably my absolute favorite wrestling character, EVER! I have hours and hours of old ECW Raven footage, and I NEVER get tired of it. The guy is awesome, tremedous, extraordinary. No amount of superlatives will do him justice. In my opinion, one of the greatest heels ever. It's just a shame that Vince was too much of a fucking moron to realize it.

Bossman had a babyface run against the Heenan family.

Heenan is the only other guy I can think of as sticking to one side through his whole career. The only AWA stuff I saw had him as a heel.

Was JYD ever heel?

Holy guacamole! Obviously you never saw *THE* Bret Hart/Goldberg encounter on Nitro. Bret calls Goldberg out, says not only can he beat him but he can beat him in under five minutes! Goldberg comes out, spears the hell out of Hart, both men lie around the ring forever, Hart finally rolls over him, counts his own three count, and reveals that he was wearing a metal chest protector beneath his hockey jersey! Holy shit, at the time, this was the coolest thing I had EVER seen. EVER.

I remember that. It was pretty cool. But Bret to me has been a great heel when he needs to be.
