It looks like Steve Corino and The Sandman, along with JJ Dillon are with NWA:TNA. This to me looks like a big step up for them. Now what happened to "Cheex"?

I hate NWA:TNA now. I ordered last week's debacle, with no surprises and no great matches. Now this week I give an F-View to NWA and they trot out R & R again, JJ, Corino (old school) AND Sandman. And from what I heard, most of the matches were good to great? Argh.

Missing the R&R was not something to be all that disappointed about. They looked awful in the ring, as once again they succeeded in having a craptacular match against AMW, which had been almost impossible to do up until now.

The Sandman surprise did come out of nowhere and gave me a smile. The matches were pretty decent other than the AMW match, but the crowd seemed pretty flat this evening. They were amped the week before, but this week there wasn't a whole lot of excitement. And JJ Dillon just killed the crowd and seemingly has used up every last drop of good feelings through Horsemen nostalgia.

That said, they did a good job of advancing things, they gave me hope for the X division by pulling the belt off of Siaki, I am intrigued by the Konnan angle, and next week Styles vs. Jarrett could be a really good match. And Trinity's pants were halfway down her ass, so it was a good night on that alone ;)

I honestly don't know HOW the R'n'R keep finding any kind of work these days. They're absolutely horrible and even AMW can't work miracles. I'm assuming the only reason those two goofs even have a job right now is purely for nostalgia value.

As for Corino and Sandman's debut, that's a huge step up for TNA! A Raven/Sandman feud could rule and bring back good memories of the old ECW days...but that's a big COULD. This ain't 1995, remember?

It's getting pretty obvious that TNA isn't short on star power. They've got enough of today's big names (Raven, Sandman, Jarrett, Lynn), yesterday's big names (Rhodes, R'n'R, Nikita), and are definitely building new stars (Styles, Siaki, Killings, TRINITY~!, AMW, Red, Low Ki, and so many more). I seriously believe there's only one thing holding TNA back from being legitimate competition at this point.

No, it's not Vince Russo (though that IS one problem).

It's that whole damn weekly PPV thing! If TNA can get themselves a REAL cable deal where fans can watch for FREE, then WWE will definitely have something to watch out for! TNA most definitely isn't short on talent. The problem is that $10 a week would be a burden on ANYBODY, even the most devoted wrestling fan.

Good point, they do need at least a weekly show, but what company would pick them up? It seems with the declining interest in wrestling, no network/cable channel would touch them.

Sadly the perfect network for them has ceased to exist. This would have been perfect on the Nashville Network. I have to think they would draw decent ratings, perhaps at least along the lines of ECW on TNN, if they were given a decent timeslot. And you have to remember a 1.0 is not bad for cable. We get spoiled thinking about Raw's ratings at its peak.

Actually the best fit I think would be a Premium Channel, considering that Vince Russo is the writer. I'd love to see them put TNA on at either 8 or 11 PM EST on Monday nights. For some reason Showtime just seems like a good fit.

"They've got enough of today's big names (Raven, Sandman, Jarrett, Lynn)"

I'm sorry, but these are not big names. Oh sure, they're big in a "sell-out a five-hundred seater indy show" way, but they're not going to result in TNA becoming any bigger or more mainstream.

NWATNA's biggest problem is that they don't book to the strengths of their roster. Russo writes a show and plugs people into places, instead of writing a show based on the strength of your roster.

They've got Lynn, Daniels, Low Ki, Styles in the company and Sonny Siaki & Kid Kash were feuding for the X Division Title? Gimme a break.

There's a couple "stars" like Raven and Jarrett that are necessary because they're good enough to create new and interesting matchups/storylines. Guys like BG James, Harris Brothers, Nikita, Rock'n'Roll Express, Larry Zybszko, Road Warriors are all just wastes of space.

I was starting to dig NWATNA as a cult alternative like ECW was. Not competition but just something cool to watch every week. And then it went into the shitter, it's a shame.

Guys like Larry Z and Dusty Rhodes aren't necessarily wastes of space (as long as they don't actually WRESTLE). Though, Larry really surprised me by putting on a good match with Styles. Their nostalgia value will draw in old school NWA fans, much like Hogan and HBK do for old school WWE fans. Old school NWA fans do mark out by seeing old faces and, from what I hear, are anxiously awaiting an appearence from Magnum TA.

You're right that booking is a problem for TNA, but then again, you can say the same thing about Raw. TNA can be the best wrestling show of all time, but you can't realistically expect fans to pay $10 EVERY WEEK. They need a TV deal, first and foremost. The rest can be fixed later.

All I know I felt like a moron the first (and last) time I ordered it. The presentation is so ametuerish i felt silly and watching the show. It makes me feel sad for the wrestlers on it...bad music, bad editing, bad interviews. Insider crapaganda that didn't sell a single arena out in the entire Russo era of WCW...And what star power? Think of it like this. Any company where, if Marty Jannetty were brought in, he would be a main eventer...has no star power. And marty jannetty probably sold more tickets in his career than Raven and Sandman, so I seriously think he would be main event.

But mostly the russo touch. The insider crap. I can't bear to watch a show where the performers break character and talk each other. God...It's so painful and annoying. Stop it. It's stupid.

Um, Corino's spent the past year working for ZERO ONE. Y'know, a company that actually draws PAID attendance.

I meant "Cheex", the big fat guy that was there for one match at the beginning of the promotion. CRZ kept putting pictures of people up that said "Not Cheex" on top of Slashwrestling. It was an attempt at humor.

If you have Comcast Video On Demand, right now they have two NWA-TNA short programs you can view for free. Just look under "sports" and then "more sports". One is called "TNA Greatest Matches 1".
