Ugh. Doood, put a little bit more description on that link. That is awful. Don't click if you have a weak stomach, or an over developed sense of other people's pain.
Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard! Good luck to those down south.
Video link has been yanked.
Pic still works, though...yeesh. First MMA fight I ever shot, somebody had the same thing happen to them. The guy manning the slo-mo replay for the JumboTron had some fun rewinding and playing THAT over and over for the fans.

Eeeuuuwwww! I clicked in the first post based on "scary". Not "squick-gak-gross!" Had I read the rest of the thread first, I would have been better prepared.
So fibula & tibia both at the same time. That's soooo ugly, you almost have to be concerned whether the surgical repair will really take. Uh, 6'4", 155. Maybe this is exactly why a factor additional to just weight might be useful?

Nope, it's a five-second clip of an entirely different (but similar, and equally gross) leg-breaking. I can't speak to the commentary, though, as I had my sound off.
Huh, I thought it was the same guys. It even looked like the same strike. Well, anyone can just do a search if they're really curious.
That must have been a hell of an impact on the other guy's tibia to shatter his leg bones. Like what Emma said, it would be a hell of a repair.
Would a person with metal rods in his legs be allowed to compete in the UFC? I'm not just talking about UFC regs, I'm also talking about medical clearance. I'm not 100% sure he'd have rods inserted, but that's what I usually hear what happens with severe breaks like these.

Isn't there usually a slight shin pad required in a lot of forms of martial arts competition? I'm not sure that would have prevented this break, but it might have made it less severe.
They said on tonight's U.F. finale that Hill would be out at least 18 months recovering from the leg injury. Frankly, I would be shocked if he was able to return to the octagon at all. That looked career-ending to me.

Like Psycho Sid's leg break that he's gone on to recover from?

A) It took Sid 8 years.
B) Sid made much more money in the previous years that Corey Hill did.
C) Both were horrific. Don't make me choose.

If you wanna reach the Co-op, boy, you gotta get by me.

I had my leg broken in the same spot back in the mid 80s and it works fine today. Only difference is I got mine from a 57 Ford pickup and it was a compound fracture. I'm pretty sure there've been a few advances in medical technology that will have the leg working good as new. My recovery actually took about 18 months, but that's only because the bone wasn't setting right and they needed to remove screws and rebreak it. Kind of a hassle...
If Cory wants to continue fighting there's nothing that'll keep him from making a return, well, except maybe a stint in TNA...

3 1/2 years. 1000 days. I helped promote the show where he first came back as a surprise guest - the IWS Fifth Anniversary show "V" June 2004.
On the other hand, it's not like anyone EVER is going to do a leg take-down on Sid. As opposed to Corey Hill who would get that in the first second of his first match back.
(Same thing with Brutus the Barber Beefcake. He flat-out refuses to take any shots that could even come near his surgically reconstructed face.)
Thanks for digging that up, DMR, as I didn't want to come off as a self aggrandizing jackass by doing that. But I totally was going to do that when I had time.
