| #1 Posted on 26.2.02 1149.27 | My paranoia is telling me there's a little conspiracy at play to keep the Big Red Machine down. Maybe not down, but at least down the card at Wrestle Mania. Picture this conversation right after the Kane-Angle segment during last week's Smackdown tapings between Kane and Paul Heyman (or Steph or whoever)
------------------------------------------------------------
Kane, excitedly, walks up to Heyman backstage.
Kane: Paul, man, did you see that! That was wild! The table spots, the anklelock…man, that was pretty cool.
Paul: Uh, yeah brother, you bet!
Kane: So, that means I get Angle at Mania, right? Big payoff, right?
Paul: Um, yeah, I was just thinking about that, man. I don't know. We kinda had something different in mind for Mania. Don't get me wrong, you're gonna get your payoff with Angle, but it'll be before Mania.
Kane: Huh? You're kiddin', right? I mean, come on, Paul! You know how good Angle and I work together. I mean, did you *see* our last two matches together? We tore the house down! We'd do it again at Mania!
Paul: Hey, you're right. I don't doubt that for a second. But, ya know, Mania *is* in Toronto, and, well, Edge doesn't have a big match yet, and we were thinking, don't take this the wrong way big man, but you're just not as over we'd like ya to be.
Kane: What! What are you smokin', Paul?? Come on! Look, just give me Angle at Mania, and I guarantee that you won't regret it.
Paul: All right, Kane. Tell ya what I'm gonna do. We're gonna give Angle a big match on Monday. You'll do a run in, and cost him the match. You get a good enough reaction, we'll consider holding off the payoff match till Mania. How does that sound?
Kane: OK, fair enough, man.
------------------------------------------------------------
What Paul neglected to tell Kane was that he'd be running in on a heel-heel match, where Angle was actually booked as the face. No matter what world you live in, that run-in is guaranteed to get either a heel reaction, or worse, zero reaction.
Of course, they'll announce Kane v. Angle at WM on Smackdown! and completely shoot my theory out of the water.

| #2 Posted on 26.2.02 1156.46 | I think Edge is more likely to be screwed out of a match than Kane. I just wish that there was something to this Angle/Kane feud. Those two guys are a couple of my favorite wrestlers, and I love to see them get together, but I just don't see the reasoning behind it.

| #4 Posted on 28.2.02 1354.22 | Why don't they just give Kane a title match on RAW or something, book him to destroy Jericho, have Angle run in and kick Kane's ass behind the refs back, Jericho gets the tainted win to further his flukey winning streak and now there is some sizzle to Kane/Angle. Maybe have Kane challenge Angle on the follwing smackdown, Angle accepts but only if it can be a submission match. Now there's a bit more intrigue to the match then just a straight one on one affair.
Or something like that.

| #6 Posted on 28.2.02 1507.57 | But he could rip your arm off..Now I bet that would qualify as a submission too..assuming he then taps it on the matt..
I like the idea of the Kane/Angle match, but it needs a little build. Kane isn't the guy to cut a promo about having enough of Angle trying to break his leg. The only way is for Angle to do a 'havent I humiliated you enough?' kinda promo only to run when Kane shows up. Do that in some way or the other until WM and people will be dying to see Big Red (not Booger Red) take on Kurt.
As for the conspiracy..Yes there is one..Whenever Kane seems to go up a level something that halts his rise happens. Something like a boring long feud with someone or a tag team with someone. I mean..last years Rumble? He didn't win but it could have been his moment of glory.. And then he wasn't even at Wrestlemania..

Hell Kane shouldn't be ahead of Lance, Benoit, Kanyon, Chavo, Christian, Edge, Regal, RVD, Goldust, Hennig, Raven, Taz, Tajiri, Hurricane.
And I think one of the other posters is right, Edge is more likely to not get a match then Kane. Anyone who thinks he is being held back is crazy. He's been a grand slam champion and isn't anywhere near deserving it.

Kane pinned Big Show in a triple threat match with Raven to win the Hardcore Title.

I would rather watch a Kane match than a Lance Storm match anyday. Lance Storm is the most overrated wrestler in recent memory.
You say Kane is not that talented, but Goldust is?
Tajiri and Hurricane should be World Title contenders over all these other guys? Is that what you are trying to say? Same with Chavo? Tazz?
Kane isn't exactly higher on the card than Benoit was when he left for injury, RVD has only been with the Fed for 6 months, Christian and Edge are still looking for the midcard angle to get them over big.
As for the main eventers, Kane isn't higher than them and doesn't have to be in order to get a real main event push. Chris Jericho is currently the World Champion but is lower on the card than all those guys.
He's been a grand slam champion and isn't anywhere near deserving it.
But Hogan and the others refusing to job to anyone makes them "deserving"? Kane will put over anyone the WWF wants him to, and is over enough and is a big enough threat that it actually means something when he does. He has been with the Fed for years (late 1994 I believe), but I guess he isn't as deserving and worthy as the others you liseted?

That was the whole idea, Kane is not a submission wrestler, so the only way Angle will wrestle him is if its in a submission match. Kinda like Austin/Hart from WM13 in the I quit match.

| #10 Posted on 28.2.02 2333.55 | I just really don't see the appeal in Kane to be honest. His matches simply have no heat and the only time the crowd ever responds is for his pyro and his finisher. Aside from that he is a typical directionless big man in the WWF. The Big Show, Kane, Test, they are all the same in my opinion. They are guys who get bumped around the upper midcard over and over and over, yet their sluggishness and lack of an exciting moveset & promo abilities keep them from ever reaching the top of the game. Kane is such a one dimensional character as it is and the WWF can either take off his mask, probably killing most of his heat but giving the ability to cut humanistic promos and use facial expressions in a match, or they can keep it on and have him be the same stale act that he has been for damn near 5 years now. Of course if the guy goes for 5 years without changing his moveset, character or intro people are going to be tired of him. Putting him in the main event would be a horrible business decision in my opinion unless they can do something to freshen him up.

I think Kane's character has changed alot over the years. At first he was hell bent on destroying his brother for disfiguring for life in the fire. Over the years he went from an emotionless monster to a guy who had a girlfriend, he learned to get along with others, he's demonstrated that his character has a sense of humor. He couldn't talk at first, then he needed the voice box, now he can talk without the voice box.
I really don't see how changing his intro would make that big of a difference in his appeal. As it is now his intro is still an awesome sight to see. The red light, the fire, the noise, the music, it's fine the way it is. Plus, it has changed a bit over the years. At first there was the organ music, then the explosion, now the intro witht he organ is gone, and the explosion comes before the music starts. I guess that is just being picky though.
As for his moveset, his signature moves still get pops. Clothesline from the top rope, chokeslam, big boot, press slam. I don't know if his moveset really needs to change to drastically. Maybe he could throw in a ddt every now in then, or some more suplexes. But there is only a certain kind of offence that most big men can do. To expect Kane to start busting out moonsaults or top rope ranas is a little ridiculous.
I don't think Kane should be shoved up into the main event, but I think they should give his match with Kurt Angle a good buildup so people will care about it when it happens.
