It's not putting down the Big 10 or saying they don't have the right to field a team so stop being so ridiculous.

And no I don't think the Big 12 has much of a case.

I enjoy how you state so much of this as fact, like no one could have another opinion and your thoughts are irrefutable. I said I thought the SEC was better than the Big 10 THIS year. And don't tell me the Big 12 doesn't have a case. They had a winning bowl record this year and Missouri slaughtered Arkansas, who beat LSU this year. They absolutely have a case.

As for Missouri, we covered this. Missouri is the second place Big 12 team. Arkansas is the seventh or eighth place SEC team. Not exactly a strong statement for the Big 12. Don't care who Arkansas beat, Colorado beat OU but I don't think beating Colorado really means much either. What else you got? Missouri got a win over Illinois, who was slaughtered by USC. Missouri beat KU, which looks kinda ok since KU upset Virginia Tech but considering that was KU's ONLY good win it's again not a very strong statement.

Oklahoma beat....Texas? And Missouri? And who outside the Big 12 that's worth mentioning? I'm sorry I can't find any real evidence that says the Big 12 has much of a case here. Sounds more like those people who tried to say Hawaii was legit because they had a pretty looking record.

OH OK. So LSU beat who then? Florida? they lost to a "lowly" Michigan team. How about Alabama? They barely beat Colorado in their bowl and "I don't think beating Colorado really means much either". "What else you got?" Tennessee? They "barely" (according to Quezzy's logic) beat a 4th place in the "lowly" Big Ten Wisconsin team.

Look, you can sit here all day and preach about what conference you THINK is the best, but until whole conferences start playing each other you can prove exactly two things: jack and sh!t.

huh? LSU beat Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, and Virginia Tech. Not all dominant teams but all top 25 teams, two in the top 10. Funny you only mention Florida and Alabama cause it helped your argument. And I don't think Michigan is "lowly" so I don't know why you used quotes there. Michigan was the second place Big 10 team. Florida was the fifth place SEC team.

We can't prove it, but that shouldn't stop us from at least paying attention to the facts that support one over the other. And there are plenty.

LSU beat three teams in its OWN conference - how does that prove anything about the SEC's strength as a conference? Just because half of the SEC was ranked in the preseason, it doesn't mean beating on each other makes the SEC the best conference. Where was Florida preseason? Where are they now? Where was Auburn before/after they beat the almighty Florida?

Virginia Tech? Like you said "Missouri beat KU, which looks kinda ok since KU upset Virginia Tech" so there's a mark for the Big 12, too. Yes, LSU beat OSU. But OSU got beaten by Illinois, who you mentioned got "slaughtered by USC", so if it doesn't count for Missouri, then beating OSU doesn't count for LSU.

I can go all day with you on this circular logic and state as many points for the Big 12 as you can for the SEC. And you can sum up every point with "Logic supports me" or "You're wrong" but you haven't proved crap. I'm done. Debate yourself for as long as you would like.

When using quotes, yet again, maybe good for the person you are quoting to have written that. As in I never wrote "logic supports me" or "you're wrong" just as I never called Michigan "lowly". And we should end this because you're not using logic, just picking and choosing only the results that support you and ignoring everything else.

Some good stuff from Mandel at SI today on conference strength I'll post anyway:

"I agree that no one game is reflective of an entire conference's strength or weakness. The same cannot be said, however, about a conference's cumulative performance, particularly over a long period of time, and in that regard, the Big Ten apologists are fighting an uphill battle at this point. The league went 3-5 in bowl games this season. It has now lost its past four BCS games by scores of 32-18 (USC-Michigan, 2006), 41-14 (Florida-Ohio State), 49-17 (USC-Illinois) and 38-24 (LSU-Ohio State). It is 8-9 overall in BCS games.

Meanwhile, the SEC went 7-2 in bowl games this season. It placed five teams in the final top 15 -- including Nos. 1 and 2 -- it's won the past two BCS championships, is now 4-0 in BCS title games and 11-4 overall in BCS games."

That's a big reason why the SEC has so many teams ranked so high each year lately. Cause they've gone out and proven on the field they deserve it. Not some conspiracy or made up reasoning. Performance.

Also in regards to the Georgia presidents proposal Mandel had this to say, in case any of you thought it had a chance:

The "we play in a tough division" argument doesn't hold any water. Teams change drastically from year to year.
