Another fantastic, must-see lead interview, this time with Russell Brand. I only knew Brand from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek (also by who he's married to). I'd never seen him speak at length as himself before, so I had no idea just how incredibly funny and entertaining Brand is. I kind of wish he didn't have to leave to make room for the woman who wrote the book about tidal waves. Brand and Conan together tore the house down. Also, I get what he means about Helen Mirren.
The huge grin on Conan's face the entire time is worth the price of admission.
I wish The 88s had played the theme from Community instead.
Also, I thought Deon Cole's first commercial for black people was stronger than his second.
Just off the back to back successes of his Harrison Ford and Russell Brand interviews, I'd call Conan week 2 already stronger than week one.
The great gaping hole in my 2010 Oscar bait films was The King's Speech, and it's really a splendid film. Colin Firth was g-g-g-great as King George VI, and so was Geoffrey Rush as his speech therapist Lionel Logue.
