Originally posted by oldschoolheroExcept there's not really too many stars in the film. Bale's unproven, Watanabe's got one major Western film to his name, Wilkinson and Hauer are strictly cult faves, the closest Neeson's ever been to stardom is Schindler's List, anybody who hasn't seen 28 Days Later... won't have a clue who Murphy is, Holmes is still only really known for Dawson's Creek, and Caine hasn't been a box office player since the sixties. The only two you could really argue are balance-toppling stars are Freeman and Oldman, and even then that's debatable.
Funny...I kind of remember Liam Neeson having a pretty significant role in a little film called STAR WARS . Michael Caine...well he was in Miss Congeniality and Goldmember which did quite well at the box office. And now there are rumors that Steve Buscemi and Kevin Spacey are involved with the new Batman film.
The very latest I'm hearing is that Bill Murray will be playing the voice of the Tumbler's (Batmobile) computer. Again, the issue I'm trying to get across is that the large amount of recognizable stars in this film could detract from the overall narrative or make it distracting.

Hey, ya know who else has a big role in Star Wars? Alec Guinness. Where was his "crazy-go-nuts megastar" card? Or Billy Dee Williams', for that matter. Hey, there's a Batman connection for ya. And in Miss Congeniality, Caine played a prissy gay etiquette specialist. In Goldmember, he was a suave woman-seducing rogue. You're kind of making the "disappearing into the role" point for us there.
Just a question-where are getting these rumors/info from? I'm hearing none of this from any site even remotely newsworthy-Hell, I'm hearing none of it from anywhere. A search for "Bill Murray Batman Begins" only lands me with unconnected movie gab and some references to Murray's initial shot at Batman back in '89. Buscemi's only semi-relevant matches are fanboys discussing the possibility of him playing The Scarecrow, and Cillian Murphy's already been cast as Crane. And Spacey gets me nothing.

See, I like the ambiguous "faceless" ret-con of Zero Hour. This way, Batman's arch-enemy was "crime" and not one particular dude. Whether mobsters were a part of Batman's origin or not, I like supervillains. I never wanted to see Iron Man constantly fighting the Viet Cong, or Spider-Man fighting petty robbers.

That hardly matters. Billy Dee (Williams) played Harvey Dent, then Tommy Lee (Jones) played Two Face.
And Batman, well, Just because Michael Keaton plays Bruce in one and two, doesn't mean Kilmer and Clooney can't slip into the role.
If anything, Batman casting is anything but stable.
So sayeth Randy Stilton, the real Stinky Cheese Man!
