Batman: Gang War - Black Mask? What the fuck were they thinking? He's one of the crappiest characters in Batman and they make him out to be the big baddie for this series... how shitty IS that? The only thing I've liked so far from this storyline was how it was revealed that Spoiler caused this all to happen and then Black Mask captures her and gives her a good old 'Sue Dibny' treatment. At least that's what it was made to look like, and I don't mean killing her (yet?). DC Comics, for all your raping needs. Geesh!

Uncanny X-Men - I know, I've been a defender of Chuck Austen's in the past, but to make Juggernaut bad again just before leaving the title sucks as well. Also, Marvel let him use Nocturne from EXILES join the new Brotherhood of (evil) Mutants is just stupid. I can honestly say NOW, that YES, Austen has fucked up what little good he's done on the book... good riddance.

Astonishing X-Men - Joss Whedon seems to be doing a good job so far, and John Cassiday's art work is really giving the title an 'event' look, but why the hell did they let him bring back Colossus? Why can't comic characters STAY dead, damnit. I am liking the use of each character in this series though, and if he's gonna bring him back, it damn sure better be for a reason, not just to raise the dead.

Identity Crisis - Sure, like Lois Lane is REALLY gonna die. I'll eat tuna if she does, and I can't stand fish. This series has me torn, damnit. I'm liking it, but SHIT, has anything REALLY happened during it. It's just superheroes standing or sitting around talking. And Captain Boomerang turns out to be the one behind it all, I'll kiss a baby, and I can't stand babies. If it turns out to be Nightwing (Which is being cancelled with issue #100) Kyle Raynor, I'll laugh cause it's stupid.

Excalibur - PLEASE, someELSE other then me write in to Marvel asking for this shit to get cancelled.

Later.

WHAAAAT?! Did you just say that Black Mask rapes teenaged Spoiler?! If that's the case (I'm not reading Gang War) then I have to ask...what the fuck has happened to DC Comics?

Just a couple quick bits about X-Men. Number one, I heard Juggernaut being turned bad again was an editorial decision, as they plan on undoing anything Austin did while he was on the title. Which is a real shame, because that was the one good thing he did. But I guess with Colossus back, we didn't really need more muscle. Even if the interaction between those two would have been priceless. Which brings me to point two, Colossus was also ultimately an editorial decision. They liked Whedon's plans for Colossus enough that they let him bring him back. Which says something, because Morrision wanted to bring him back, but the editors wouldn't let him do it. So yes, there is a plan for him.

I just read about the cliffhanger in Y: The Last Man #28. Read on if you dare, but it's a goddamn doozy.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read

Yorick, Agent 355 & Dr. Mann finally reach the lab in San Fransisco. Turns out the only thing keeping Yorick alive was the mystical ring he bought for an engagement ring for his girlfriend Beth waaaay back in #1. Since Yorick was wearing it he was *technically* considered a woman somehow, so was immune to the plague. Yorick gets in a tussel with some toughs and the ring comes off, he's exposed to the plague, and drops dead.

Yep, drops dead.

I cannot f*cking wait to read the ish. Best comic on the stands, kiddies.

I pretty much gave up on all of the X-titles aside from Ultimate and Astonishing last month. Excalibur and X-Men just flat out make zero sense. Magneto's back, Xorn's back...oh, maybe the other guys were impostors, or brothers, or something. Uh...yeah.

Glad I'm avoiding War Games right now and waiting for the trade. It's just covering too many titles to collect right now, and this Black Mast / Spoiler thing confirms I was right!

ID Crisis: I stayed away from DC for over ten years, but this has really gotten my interest back away from Marvel big-time. I think the culprit is really Ralph, to get the insurance money ("Who Benefits?" was the big idea from last issue). Have no proof, though, so don't consider it a spoiler.

Y - Head...spinning from possible spoiler. I have no idea how Vaughn is going to handle that, if true! Wow.

First post, BTW, after lurking for years. Yay for me! :-)

Spoilers and such.....

Uncanny X-Men: The Juggy heel turn is a swerve, as evidenced with the most recent issue. What I don't like are the other inconsistencies (Gambit blaming Rogue for his being blind, when she had nothing to do with it. No explanation of why/how Rogue got her powers back.) Nocturne, with Juggernaut's help, seems to have also left the Brotherhood.

Batman: Wargames: I don't see any signs of a supposed rape by Black Mask upon Spoiler. Just lotsa beatings.

Identity Crisis: I still think Jack Drake is one of the next to die. I doubt Nightwing (who has a Year One mini-series following NW #100) or Kyle is the villain, tho.

Not that it was any great feat, but I figured on Tim's dying months ago. I mean, how can you be in the Bat family with no tragedy in your life? I assume his death and/or Spoiler's death will cause Tim to be Robin again.

Nothing in comics fandom has amused me more lately than the long and silly list of IC "suspects." This includes:

Barry
Iris
Carol Ferris/Star Sapphire (admittedly my wild theory)
Snapper Carr
The Atom (why Jean didn't die and Sue did)
Boomerang's kid
Bats
Nightwing
Kyle
Slade
Luthor

Lots of good suspects thrown out there so far. Luthor is the safe choice since his power suit was seen in the background on the villains' satellite at one point. Plus, he mentioned a "Crisis" was coming at the end of the first arc of Superman / Batman when he was removed as POTUS. Still, this is probably going to be something out of left field, like the unknown character talking to Black Lightning on the telephone in #1.

Kyle was also a good choice since he's taking a back seat to the resurrected Hal Jordan starting next month. But since Major Force didn't kill his mom after all he's probably just going to go off and be GL amongst the galaxies of space.

Slade would be cool, but he kinda already had his moment in the sun when he essentially took out the entire JLA B-team earlier.

Hey, I know who it is - Clayface disguised as Jason Todd! And the bad guy is a childhood friend of Batman whom we never met before. Oh, that was done already

I'll stick with my choice of Elongated Man. He went from sorrowful to vengeful pretty quickly, and then might have been playing possum when Slade took him out so easily. It's a SWERVE, I tell ya!

Tim's dad is definitely a goner, though, I agree.

Gosh, I know way too much about this...Anybody got suspects in Avengers Disassembled?

PS Thanks for pimping my blog, Zed. How's two posts in twelve hours?

Let's see...

Identity Crisis: I'm saying the killer is...not Nightwing or Green Lantern. The "Who benefits?" montage showed my favorite suspect...Jack Drake.

Disassembled: The storyline is called "Chaos". It involves magic. If you don't know who controls chaos magic, you should stop reading the Avengers.

I'm betting the villain in Avengers will be a heel turn by one of the original members. The one that's been a villain (nominally) before. And had many different names. :>

The villain in Disassembled has to be Loki. He was the first Avengers villain, it only makes sense that he's now the "last" villain.

I'm only tangentally following some books now. Thank goodness for the X-Axis--so I can catch up on the X-Books without paying for them. This guy has evidently been following the books so long that Lodbell used to send him emails asking if potential plotlines made sense. Austen should have tried this.

Odessa--I assume you must be talking about Pym? I'm also hearing rumors of the villian possibly being the Scarlet Witch (as she has been absent a lot).

Also--Hawkeye's death was trash. I know Bendis is leaving it so all can be brought back except AntMan, but c'mon.
Since when do costumes made of Unstable Molecules burn?

Also, on Xtreme--Claremont was slowing undoing all the crap with the characters--Psylocke was supposed to be ressurected by the Crimson Dawn one final time as her original British self, leaving Rogue powerless to get rid of that Skrull non-sense. And he was told, dead was dead so Betsy never came back. Guess the editors have changed their minds. Colossus was killed to make the shitty Legacy Virus storyline end and seem important. If there was ever a "reset" I can live with, I think its this one.

Sheesh. I'm so out of the loop. I buy Savage Dragon (the only book I've bought every issue of and basically the only reason I still buy comics), Ultimate Spider-Man, and Masters of the Universe every month and that's it. And I'm assuming MOTU will be cancelled sooner than later.

The core group of Avengers is thus: Thor, Iron Man, Wasp, Giantman, Captain America, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch & the Vision. They are the group that's been in every incarnation, more or less. Three of them haven't shown up. Thor (because he's rather busy in his own comic), Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. Think about it. Hank Pym's had his fall from grace. It was beating his wife and getting kicked out of the Avengers, then thrown in jail for it. It's the reason he's not called Yellowjacket anymore.

Except, um... he IS called Yellojacket now, or was until recently.

It's something Loki related, I believe.

I've actually enjoyed War Games thus far, although some of the events in this coming week's installment (Detective Comics, I think... flipped through the preview copy on Friday or Saturday so I might be wrong on which book) make me scratch my head. Without going into too much detail, Batman takes way too long to figure out he's been duped.

Identity Crisis is CLEARLY the work of Manga Khan! After all, Sue Dibny was one of the architects of his most recent downfall! Heh... while I don't think Lois will drop, I fully expect Iris to be dead and gone by the end of the series. I do agree that Tim Drake's father will die, but I think it'll happen in War Games instead of Identity Crisis. But I hope Spoiler doesn't die. That'd be a waste of an entertaining character, at least in my book. I really haven't decided who my favorite suspect on this one is yet. I'm assuming Luthor is a red herring, and I just think it'd be plain wrong to turn Nightwing or GL. And I'll grant that I only really interact with fans at the comic shop I work for, but PLEASE tell me no one actually thinks this is the work of Batman. Just seeing him on that list makes me want to question the sanity of whoever first put forth that theory.

All the X-Men books except Exiles anger me. Now that Gambit (ugh) has shown up in Ultimate again, it is no longer exempt from this. I will say no more on the matter.

And for the Avengers... meh. After approximately 18,000 "It's a whole new direction/A new creative team/A new beginning" from Marvel in the last couple of years, they'll have to do a lot better than rebooting the Avengers into a new #1 just months after finally going back to the old numbering system to make it seem like anything more than the Avengers version of "X-Men: Reload... the exact same books with the EXACT SAME WRITERS minus Grant Morrison plus Joss Whedon." And with Bendis still doing New Avengers, that's exactly what this is. I love Bendis' work, but this is just another excuse for him to write MORE "Spider-Man and Wolverine team up, sometimes with other heroes in the mix" stories.

Despite all this ranting, I'm actually not bitter... there's still a ton of books I enjoy. Invincible, anything Ultimate (except of course for Ultimate Adventures and Ultimate Gambit), KODT, most of the recent Star Wars stuff, Excel Saga, Superman/Batman (and give Batman some credit for facing down Darkseid, heh), Runaways, Spider-Girl, Cable/Deadpool (even though it DOES suck), Teen Titans, and a bunch of stuff I'm not remembering right now. It just depresses me that the X-Men books are getting bought up quite effectively despite not being all that good. Even X-Force, and let's face it, that book might have an even worse plot than Excalibur.

I'm really not all that pissed about Avengers Disassembled, I'm actually liking some of the side books. I WAS upset with them dragging FANTASTIC FOUR into it, but at least the story's interesting. The idea of the mayor of New York having his people begging him to call anyone BUT them for help was funny.

Spidey's interaction with Captain America in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN has been shitty seeing as they've worked before together is stupid, but again, at least the story is going well.

Omeing is doing a competent job on THOR, giving the feel of the events of the book finally make you believe RAGNAROK is taking place. and it IS the end of the gods. I'm interested in seeing what's next for Thor now, even though I thing the last writer got the shaft and was forced to finish out a storyline about six issues short.

Kirkmans CAPTAIN AMERICA isn't as bad as I want it to be, even with the bad video rental jokes. I just wish we didn't have yet ANOTHER Red Skull story so soon.
