Make just a small little curved line, and it looks exactly like the "copyright" sign. Which is what most people, I think, will see when they see the new Comedy Central logo. So from a brand-recognition standpoint, it's uninspired.

IMO, what you consider flaws are what made the British version great. David Brent was funny because he was such an irritating prig, and everyone was much closer to a 'real-life' character than a sitcom charcater.
