The biggest thing was Duke thumping number two Texas by 31 to solidfy its hold on number one. As much as I loathe him, JJ Redick threw his hat in the ring for Player of the Year awards by shooting 9 of 16 from long range for a career high 41.
Another guy that is going to be in the hunt for player of the year is Adam Morrison of Gonzaga. He hit the game winning three with two seconds left to help the Zags beat OK State by two in a very good game. Gonzaga has already beaten Maryland, Michigan State, Washington State, and Oklahoma State so I think it's fair to say that they're a legitimate contender. A lot of people are talking about them as a Final Four team, and as much as I'd like to see it, I don't think they have a deep enough team with Raivio, Morrison, and Batista doing the lion's share of the work. Plus they've gone from a Cinderella to a perennial choke team.
BC lost to two - one to Michigan State and one to Maryland. They were overrated when they were on the cusp of the top five, but I still think BC is too good not to compete in the ACC. Smith and Dudley are a better inside duo than anyone else in that conference which looks to be in a reloading phase. Good to see my Terps get a quality win under their belt before the New Year.
Plenty of other stuff going on before a lot of schools take a break for exams - Illinois is somehow 10-0, NC looks stronger than expected, and Indiana beats UK with Marco Killingsworth looking like an All American. You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week. "Because personally if I was being choked by Ric Flair, my personal reaction would be well, "Glrrrrkkk, can't breathe" but after that... I respectfully disagree and suggest that Morrison go the full porn 'stache route. Looks like he's got some dirt around his mouth, though.

I'm still in mourning over the UK debacle in Indy. IU played a heckuva game, but I can't help but think that my 'Cats need something to bring out their aggression. Killingsworth looked like a beast, but I don't remember him being that great when he was at Auburn.
If UK doesn't show up to play Saturday against Louisville, it will be a long day.

Well, TECHNICALLY the UW/Gonzaga game ended after midnight on the east coast, so it should count for 12/5. Washington is 8-0 and they have found a point guard in Justin Dentmon and they look like the class of the Pac-10. (That's mostly due to some sad hoops being played a Arizona and Stanford, though.)
Adam Morrison is the TROOF. (TM Michael Irvin.) He almost single-handledly won that game for the Zags. I have no idea why they would stop giving him the ball when he had 43 with four minutes left.

Chuck - that means he'll be back for the first Vandy game.

By reading some reactions over at CatsPause, you'd think Moses F'n Malone was joining the team.
I gotta say I lost a little more respect for Tubby in this whole fiasco...Morris made it clear that he DIDN'T want to play for UK anymore after last year. He HAD to of known there was a CHANCE he might not get drafted. Tubby needs to cut loose cancers like Morris and Crawford (who threatened to transfer last year). Stick with the guys who are 100% loyal and are glad to be there. Team chemistry can overcome a lack of talent.
And yes, that is bitterness you detect in my post! :-)

No kidding, if you need proof just watch my Gators. They lose their three best players to the draft. (or atleast THEY thought they were being lost to the draft) Now we got a team that actually has CHEMISTRY and HUSTLES and plays DEFENSE. What a crazy concept. We're off to a great start, I don't think we're as good as the other teams we're ranked with but hopefully we can have a good enough record in SEC play to get a 1, 2, or 3 seed and avoid those upset traps the Tournament Committee loves putting us in.
Ironically I was cheering for both Tennessee and Kentucky yesterday because them knocking of Texas and Louisville should move us up to no. 5 in both polls.

Triple-double for Brewer...WOW. I'm still pissed we let him out of the state. Saturday was a great day for the SEC. Now 3rd in the RPI's as a conference.

It was easy not to like Roberson and Walsh, but I did think highly of Lee. With Roberson and Walsh gone I don't know if I have a Gator to dislike. I think Billy did a great thing when he decided to toughen the team up last year.
