SEC: Georgia was overrated, go figure. Kentucky's bowl eligible now, so maybe Vandy can get a win over them or UT to end their misery finally.

ACC: Maryland's the only team in the conference without 2 conference losses or more now! FSU loses in a heartbreaking manner, Virginia blows a game they should have won, Wake needs OT to beat Duke.. just another day in the ACC.

Big East: West Virginia is clearly in control now. Louisville lost to Syracuse. Seriously. USF is 1-3 in the conference. WTF is going on in the BE?

Others: Tulsa's not going to be busting any BCS'es now.

Texas Tech is looking like they are for real and should be #1 if they win this game. That is all.

Wow, one win and let's make them #1. Seriously Kansas State, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Kansas? That's an awfully weak schedule. Kansas State is 1 - 4 (and that's in the EASY division). Texas A&M and Kansas only have conference wins because Colorado, Kansas State and Iowa State are a combined 2 - 13 in conference. And Nebraska? Well today is not a good day to be defending them. Let's let Tech have more than one good win before we make them the best team ever.

Georgia overrated? I don't know where you get that from. They missed two field goals, other than that Florida just beat them. LSU was overrated, Georgia is a really good team that got beat by a better team.

Arkansas over Tulsa. This is why a team outside of the major conferences will probably never win a championship. A good team outside of the major conferences isn't even as good as Arkansas? And a really good team is, well, see Georgia/Hawaii from last year.

UGA getting slammed isn't surprising to me. They have been overrated throughout the season and you just knew Florida was going to get them back for the celebration from last year.

Hat's off to Texas Tech. Even playing at home with an undefeated record, I thought they were heavy underdogs against the Longhorns. But even when Texas took the lead with under 2 mins. remaining, they came back with one of the most amazing finishes I have ever seen. Texas, I think, just came back too late. Maybe they were worn out after having won against 3 straight top-12 opponents before tonight's game (I heard on the V show on ESPN radio that if they had won, it would had been only the 2nd time a college football team won four straight against such highly ranked teams).

Bret Bielema, coach for Wisconsin, is a dumbass. Why would you ever call a timeout when your opponent has none? You're supposed to let the clock run out to preserve the lead. Wisconsin gave that game away to Michigan State; no wonder they suck as bad as they do.

At least the Badgers are better off than the Wolverines. Michigan being bowl- ineligible for the first time in 33 years has got to feel awful for their proud alumnus.

A lot of upsets and near upsets for those ranked in the bottom half of the Top 25.

Does this mean Alabama finally gets the nod to #1?

"Wow, one win and let's make them #1. "

I'm glad the hate is continuing. Because a team has never jumped to #1 by winning one game. Who has Alabama and Penn State beaten again?

"Georgia overrated? I don't know where you get that from. They missed two field goals, other than that Florida just beat them. LSU was overrated, Georgia is a really good team that got beat by a better team."

I don't know, teams that lose 41-30 and 49-10 after starting the season #1 MAY have been overrated. Just a thought.

"Arkansas over Tulsa. This is why a team outside of the major conferences will probably never win a championship. A good team outside of the major conferences isn't even as good as Arkansas? And a really good team is, well, see Georgia/Hawaii from last year."

Sure, then I can say "Well, Boise beat Oklahoma" and we're right back to square one. (And a team outside of the major conferences HAS won a championship before. Well, before this BCS thing that's biased against them started.)

Convenient that you left out all the good points I made about Texas Tech having a lousy schedule after Texas. Texas Tech beating Texas is the best win I'll give you that, but after that Texas Tech's best win is over a Kansas team that has only been able to beat teams with 1 win or less in conference play. They might have the best win but Alabama and Penn State have better schedules.

Wow, they lost to the teams that should be ranked #1 and #4. They sure do suck. Maybe you should watch the game instead of looking at the score and deciding Georgia sucked. Stafford was really good, he threw for 250+ yards against a great defense. He threw three interceptions only because of a spectacular defensive play and a forced throw because he was down by 39 points. Moreno was held to 65 yards because of the defense not because he sucked. Georgia's defense gave up 49 points mainly because Florida's defense was so good they put Florida in good scoring position. If you actually watched the game and think Georgia is overrated then your nuts. Florida is just that good, they would've beaten Texas Tech by a few touchdowns tonight.

1. And again, who did Texas beat before they beat Oklahoma? Who has Alabama beaten? Who did Penn State beat besides Ohio State who had lost by 32 points this year already?

2. I must be nuts to think a team that lost by 39 points was a TAD overrated. They obviously deserved their #1 ranking.

3. People consider it the biggest upset in college football history because they're retarded. Boise waxed Oklahoma in that game.

Texas is still in pretty good shape. It's somewhat unlikely that Texas Tech will manage to beat both Oklahoma AND Oklahoma State, and if the Red Raiders lose them both, then Texas jumps back ahead of them in the standings (presuming Texas beats Kansas, Baylor and Texas A&M, and if they can't go 3-0 against them, they don't deserve to be in the title discussion anyway) and will make it to the Big 12 title game. Oklahoma and OK State will knock one or the other out when they play at season's end.

Alabama is going to be in tough to keep this #1 ranking. Winning at LSU, plus the always-contentious rivalry game with Auburn still to come, whereas the Gators don't really have much of anything major left on their schedule. At this point I'd favour Florida to win the SEC, so it's going to be a real tossup between a one-loss Florida and a (likely) one-loss Big 12 champ to see who gets into the national title game against Penn State.

I really wish I could have seen the Texas/Tech game. I saw a replay of the winning touchdown, and I can't believe Harrel threw that pass - or that Crabtree got in. I really want to see Tech go undefeated now, just for the sake of seeing a new team in the title game. I also love watching that offense and would like to see them face off with Penn State or Alabama. It will be interesting to see if Tech can jump Penn State - I'd say they shouldn't yet, but should if they beat OK State and Oklahoma.

I think it's obvious West Virginia has improved dramatically since the early struggles. I haven't seen any of their games, understand, only highlights, but they appear to have given up on this "Pat White throws the ball a lot" thing, and they're much better because of it. Going into the season, this Cincy game was one I was sure USF would lose - it's the team's second conference road game in five days. That is retarded scheduling on the Big East's part. But I thought it would be the team's first loss, not its third.

And Georgia was severely overrated. The No 6 team in the country doesn't lose by 39 points. I know Florida is very good - but Georgia didn't lose by one or two scores. They got absolutely destroyed. Your analysis, Quezzy, doesn't make a difference. All it amounts to is "Florida really, really outplayed Georgia" - which is exactly why Georgia was so overrated.

And it really, really sucks to be Washington. Like, really bad.

I've killed Texas Tech as a fraud for years, so I'll give them all the credit in the world for beating Texas. How you don't go for 2 though with 1 second left up 5 with the only thing that beats you is a kickoff for a touchdown is still confusing.
Oklahoma might be the first team ever to hang 62 on a team and then drop on the polls, as Texas should drop to the 4 slot with Oklahoma in the 5 slot. But, Oklahoma might now get destiny somewhat back towards their hands should they beat Tech, assuming Tech beats Oklahoma State, as that win could vault them over Texas in the 1 loss pool.
I can't see Tech jumping over the #3 spot, as Alabama will slide to #1 and I can't see the polls allowing a team to jump Paterno now that they can safely slide Penn State into #2.
Right now, if you look at the 4 'elite' 1 loss teams, the best chances to get into the National Title Game for them probably goes Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Texas. I drop Texas that far because though they will be ranked the highest, they would need a Texas Tech loss that wouldn't be against Oklahoma, thus hurting their chances.

I didn't get to see the TT/Texas game either. But after watching the highlights, the one thing I'll say is that this Crabtree kid is the TRUTH. It's like watching Calvin Johnson, except with a better quarterback throwing him the ball.

Speaking of all things Georgia Tech related....wmtastic, you out there? I never thought I'd say this to a Florida State fan, but I feel for ya (sort of). FSU had that game as good as won/tied, until one extremely well-placed hit.

To chime in on the discussion about Georgia, they're a good team -- as evidenced by the wins over SC, Vandy, and LSU -- but they're not elite, which is what I think of when I think of the top 5 teams. To be in that club, you've got to come through when it matters (see: Texas beating Oklahoma, TT beating Texas, PSU beating OSU). When Georgia had a chance to remain in/get into that discussion (vs Florida & Alabama), they came up small. They're good, just not "deserve to be ranked No. 1" good. And I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia Tech pulled one out of their asses and beat them later this month.

(Disclaimer: having said all that, I'll admit that I'm one of those people who doesn't believe that there should be any polls at all until October at the earliest).

I'm still confused as to why people think Oklahoma State is going to beat Texas Tech for sure. Because they almost beat Texas? Uh.. right.

"To chime in on the discussion about Georgia, they're a good team -- as evidenced by the wins over SC, Vandy, and LSU -- but they're not elite, which is what I think of when I think of the top 5 teams. "

No no no, I said they're overrated so I must have meant they were bad. That's what overrated apparently means to some people.

That Texas game sure was fun. I think everyone during Texas's last drive was thinking, "don't score so quick!!" What it means, I don't know. If Tech can't win out, which i don't believe they can, and we have several one loss teams in the south, who goes to the conference title game? Hopefully it's better than the Big 10 way.

As for FSU, man that sucked. They kept fighting like they have all year and had it won. Then they put in the third string RB cause he's "bigger" and he fumbles. But hey most of the RB's have had trouble with that this year and it was a perfect hit. Time to get ready, cause Clemson, BC, Maryland and Florida are still to come.

It'll go to whoever has the highest BCS ranking, so congrats to Oklahoma if they win out. Looks like Tech will be #2 in the BCS today, though, so they're in great shape if they keep winning. Like it should be.

FSU will go 2-2 in that stretch with wins in the first two and losses in the last two. They're still a good team.

All I know is the ACC is going to be a bitch to win for the next few years. Everyone seems to be improving at the same time.

Well, except Clemson, but we'll see who they get as the new coach first.

I agree. Miami, VT, FSU, and GT all have a bunch of new starters this year and you can already see them getting better week to week. It's going to be hell in the next few years and the ACC will finally become the power conference everyone expected.

In the 2 human polls that matter(coaches and Harris), it is #1 Alabama, #2 Penn State, #3 Texas Tech, so unless the computers have Penn State very low, Tech will be in the 3 slot.

Well, Tech is No 2 in the new BCS. I've got to imagine if the Red Raiders win out they'll also jump Penn State in the human polls, but who knows. Regardless, the difference in computers is enough right now that it bumped Texas Tech up, and that computer difference is only going to get wider, so they look in good shape - pretending they had a chance at winning in Norman, which I think they don't.

Also, Texas fell too far. I think the polls should have been:

1) Alabama
2) Texas Tech/Penn State
3) Texas Tech/Penn State
4) Texas
5) Oklahoma

Instead, now Texas, which lost on the road to a team now ranked No 2 in the BCS, is ranked behind an Oklahoma team it beat.

Texas is 4th in the BCS and they can still make the BCS if they win out, so does it really matter that the coaches are idiots in their poll?

This is true.

Another thing about the polls: I think it's too bad the AP poll isn't a part of the BCS anymore. I mean, it still has questionable placement of course - any poll is going to - but it still makes more sense week in and week out to me than either the Coaches' or Harris polls even come close to matching.

The top six in the current AP poll (Alabama, Texas Tech, Penn State, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma) is exactly how I think it should be.
