Worst case scenario for Notre Dame: They lose to USC and likely fall out of BCS consideration, but they might have saved Weis' job with the rally. If they had scored, I think they would have gone for 2. Except for the Nevada game, every game has gone to the gun for them.
Purdue knocks off Ohio State. Is it time to ponder whether Tressel made a mistake overhauling his offense to keep Pryor from going to Michigan? Won the battle, may have lost the war. Notre Dame was never the same after Holtz changed everything for Powlus, and Nebraska never recovered from dumping the option. Better to get blown out in the title game than to play a close Alamo Bowl (yes, that is an exaggeration as they probably won't go lower than the Citrus/Cap One Bowl).
Sam Bradford is officially the poster child for not staying in school. He lost at least 8 figures this season.
If you want to knock off the #1 team and defending national champions on the road, you can't miss 2 field goals in the second half.
Weird seeing Spurrier coach a defense first team.
The ACC tie-breakers might be interesting. When in doubt, put Duke in the title game.
Can Mizzou or Okie State pick off Texas? If not, they are half of the national title game.

I may be biased against the Gators, but I'll say it anyway...the refs really screwed Arkansas near the end there. The pass interference and then personal foul calls on Florida's game tying drive were both horrible calls. Sure Florida might have come back anyway, but still.

I was never sold on Pryor. I remember saying back when he was being recruited that he almost never actually threw the ball and when he did it wasn't impressive. That said, he'd probably thrive at Michigan.

Maryland/Virginia lived up to the hype.

ND once again finds ways to lose to USC. Granted, they didn't lay down and die which is a nice change of pace they did however blow their only chance of beating this team for the next three years. Jimmy didn't kill his Heisman hopes, but with Teabow's game winning drive he locked in that puppy. ND will have to avoid the death spiral they had last year after the UNC lose to save Charlie's job. Texas/Oklahoma was one of the worst games of the week with a number of turnovers and missed chances. Bradford will now go in the bottom of the 1st round after Colt and Jimmy. If OSU loses to Michigan and PSU expect the rumblings of firing Tressel will begin even though he is the best coach they have find since Woody Hayes.

The SEC said that it was a bad call and that they are the same crew that made a bad call in that LSU-Georgia game.

I think I read that same crew has already been assigned to a game next week. I know finding replacements would be tough, but how do you let those screw ups keep going out there?

In other news, read today that Bowden is done at the end of this year at FSU because he won't accept sticking around while Jimbo picks the new DC. Word is Bobby may be looking to go coach at UAB for a couple years with Tommy. Yes, really.

Bowden will go to the Sun Belt conference at this point if it gets him 1 more win than Paterno.

If the vacation of those 14 winds holds, does he really have a shot?

Time just isn't on his side.

Well he's younger than Joe Pa and still healthy so time isn't a big factor if he finds a school that will just let him be head coach as long as he wants. I still think he'll get those wins back though and just coach a couple years then let Tommy take over.

Before people ask about Auburn, they actually have 8 points less this week than last. The SOS fluctuation in their other games almost compensated for the lost points in the Kentucky loss.

I like the rankings this week. I was a little bit skeptical about LSU being #4 last week and #1 the week before that but with them dropping this week it looks like things are starting to play out.

I like TCU being ahead of Boise State and Cincinnati. I realize that the polls like Boise and Cincy's schedules better so far but I think TCU is the better team. I assume that if TCU runs the table they'll at least be ahead of Boise in the other polls and BCS though.

It's also good to see Idaho and Central Michigan on these rankings. I realize that teams like West Virginia, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Kansas play in the "big" conferences but a big reason they are ahead of Idaho and Central Michigan is because of the names of the school.

Yes, not ranking 6-1 Idaho - with their wins over feared New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, etc., and loss to the only BCS conference team they played - is a real travesty.

A big reason West Virginia, Kansas and Texas Tech are ahead of Idaho and Central Michigan is because West Virginia, Kansas and Texas Tech are better than Idaho and Central Michigan.

I think you missed his point that he is just happy to see an unbiased ranking system out there.

But you do have a point that it is Idaho and because of their conference I am pretty sure that they could win out and not make my top 25. There SOS will bring them down. The way I track SOS (like the way the BCS did it when it was still a component), Idaho hasn't played a team better than .500

What I can't understand is how the comparison grid has Oklahoma at 29th (as I type this. Massey hasn't added mine to the grid, but I doubt I could affect the average that much as 121 systems are in there so far). I have them at 70th because they are 2-3 vs FBS teams. My system penalized them heavily because of the BYU loss. BYU counts as a 5-1 team for OK's SOS, but BYU's Opponents record is only 5-21 (not including OK's 2-3 record in there. They would be 7-24 with OK in there). They lost to a team that just whooped up weak teams.

A quick glance has about a dozen or so having OK as a top 10 team and 1 has them at #1 http://www.masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=cf&mid=5

Conversely, there is one that has them at 83rd.

I'm a big fan of mid majors and couldn't agree more with this reply. My reply was gonna be 'ok, let's see Idaho and Central Michigan play WVU, Kansas, and Texas Tech and see how that turns out'. Idaho and CMU are good teams and deserve to maybe be ranked right now just because, but they're not upper echelon teams. They're cooler versions of 2008 Ball State.
