Sorry, yeah I didn't obviously mean 'whoever they want', I did mean in terms of who they have to select from, they can choose since they lost their affiliated teams.
As for the BCS bowls, I'm hearing a lot of Boise vs TCU in Fiesta Bowl talk so I'm not the only one thinking that's going to happen. Yes, the BCS automatic qualifier was put in place so a big boy can play a smaller school, but
1) There's 2 smaller schools this year.
2) What happens if the undefeated smaller schools both beat big name schools, Cincy beats Florida, and Alabama beats Texas? You have FOUR teams with claims to a national title. Boise/TCU eliminates one automatically, meaning you have three claims at most and slightly less controversy.

My playoff bracket that doesn't mean anything either. Automatics: "Six BCS conference champs", Two highest ranked mid-major champs At-large: Top eight teams not in above list. Seeding: Top 8 are the conference champs in order of rank. Bottom 8 are the at-large seeded by rank. First round at home of higher seed Second round at home of higher seed Semi's and title game at big bowl locations
#16 Central Michigan (MAC Champ) @ #1 Alabama (SEC Champ) #9 Florida (SEC at-large) @ #8 Ohio State (Big Ten Champ)
#13 Penn State (Big Ten at-large) @ #4 Boise State (WAC Champ) #12 BYU (MWC at-large) @ #5 TCU (MWC Champ)
#11 LSU (SEC at-large) @ #6 Georgia Tech (ACC Champ) #14 Virginia Tech (ACC at-large) #3 Cincinnati (Big East Champ)
Tough week for Iowa in the coaches poll, as they drop from 10 to 11 off of their, well, I don't know what they did, while Penn State remained in the 9 slot in the coaches poll. I wouldn't say chicanery, well, I probably would.

Probably has to do with Georgia Tech beating Clemson and moving ahead of Iowa.. oh and the BCS bowls can still choose Iowa if they want, they can choose either team, so I wouldn't read too much into it.
EDIT - Boise vs TCU in Fiesta just announced, yep.

Methodology: 20 teams. Eleven conference champions automatically qualify. Nine at-large teams. Teams ranked and seeded using six BCS ranking computers, but I take Sagarin's and Massey's ORIGINAL ranking formulae, NOT their BCS-adjusted ones. I try to place the bracket strictly by ranking but I will move a team up or down a spot to avoid two same-conference teams playing as long as possible. (I didn't have to do that this year.)
Houston and USC lost this week and played themselves out of spots.

Wow, thanks. Guess you learn something new everyday. And I suppose that since the Falcons are playing their B-team, more or less (e.g., no Vick or Crumpler, plus their first two fullbacks are on IR now), that line makes sense.
