I got Coldplay's latest "A rush of Blood to the Head." a few days ago and its very very good. Most of the songs are standouts with the best songs being "Daylight" and "Amsterdam."

If you don't already have this, get it.

Man I loved that album when it first came out. Then, three weeks later they put it on the 'background' music on the juke box at work, meaning I was force fed it several times daily. The number of great albums I hate now because of that damned juke box.

I tell you if it wasnt for the free ppv's I'd ditch that job so fast....

Somebody loaned me the CD a while back, and I forgot to return it to her, so for the time being, it's mine. I really did forget to return it is the sad thing, and now I'm, for lack of a better term, stuck with it. Not that I mind...

For me, it's all about "The Scientist." All about it.

Can someone explain all the Coldplay love to me? Are the albums much better than what I've heard (and what I assume are the singles)?

It's not that I think they're bad - just kind of 'eh' - which is odd, because I usually quite enjoy 'critic's darling' type bands.

Basically, I'm wondering what I'm missing.

"In My Place" and "The Scientist" , two of the singles released to radio from "A Rush of Blood to the Head." are probably two of the weaker singles in the album. "Clocks", on the other hand, is a very good song.

It's like that with lots of albums.

I never really got into these guys. Their music seemed like a poppy version of Radiohead.

Over 1250 posts and still never a Wiener of the Day!

In the issues of December 16th, 2000 to November 10th, 2001, we may have given the impression that George W. Bush had been legally and duly elected president of the United States. We now understand that this may have been incorrect, and that the election result is still too close to call. The Economist apologizes for any inconvenience.

That's about it. However, if you can get past that comparison, the CD is very listenable. Much gusto.

Well, since I was a huge Radiohead fan before their "our new music is too artistic for you" approach, I see that as a good thing. Yeah, theyre pretty much the band Radiohead was supposed to be before Thom Yorke's ego outgrew his talent.

As far as the "Critic's Darling" title, Id rather see Coldplay fill that role than the Strokes, or Norah Jones.

Bah...I never got the "We're too Artistic for you" vibe from Radiohead. Instead they (unlike many artists) wanted to try something drastically different. They succeeded. I was a huge Radiohead fan when it came out and I remember hearing the opening of "Everything in it's Right Place" and saying to myself "My God...that's the most amazing opening of an album ever..".

Sure the Kid A/Amnesiac is difficult, but that's part of the challenge. Stick with them, and you are rewarded with two of the most stunning albums ever.

Yes, I like HHH! What's so wrong with that?
