Why the hell is Coach going after J.R. Maybe it's just me, but I would love to see Lawler phased out and a commentary team of J.R. and Coach. Just for the mere fact that there would be a heel/face division. There would also be a tension between the two that we haven't seen since Heyman was in the booth.

For all those who say, "But coach is a play by play announcer." Fuck That. I think he would do a much better job as a color commentator. Also I don't think I've ever seen a heel play by play guy. Heel Tenay doesn't really count because he wasn't the main announcer.

While I agree that Coach would do better to replace Lawler than JR, storyline wise it makes sense that he's going after JR. Remember when JR first got rehired by Stone Cold and Austin demoted Coach by stunning him? Back then, I was hoping we'd see a Coach turn and have him join up with Bischoff & Morely. I'm surprised they left that out of the current storyline.

I have a better solution, though. How about Coach takes out both Lawler & Ross and we get a new team of Jonathon Coachman & William Regal?

I think we'll see Coach emerge as the main announcer on Raw sooner than later.

Raw seems to have been experimenting with different pairings on Mondays as well as on Heat (where if you failed, you were pushed for a month and then fired). I remember hearing that JR wanted off TV a few months back, yet he's still there.

Setting up Coach as a heel makes him a great partner for JR (as you said), or helps turn Lawler face (he's so annoyingly tweener nowadays). Maybe they'll add the stipulation that the winner of the Lawler/Coach match gets Raw and the loser gets Heat.

The problem is replacing JR. People love JR, but he's just so stale right now. If Coach gets play-by-play you need a strong face as color commentator. Doesn' Foley want to get involved in a non-wrestling capacity? What about a face DDP? (I haven't heard him on color, so I don't know if he's a great choice)

Though I like the way Coach sounds, they need a person in the booth that can call the moves by their names so casual and novice fans can become hard-core fans. I've hated the team of JR and Lawler for somtime now, they bore me. They are like two old laides sitting on a porch, agreeing on how everyone else should be. If the WWE wants them to agree on most things why not bring in those guys from the Muppet Show who sit up in the balcony(that's my dream team). I did like how fresh and bitter the Jr/Heymen team worked, Heymen called moves and kept JR on edge.

I like Coach as evil, but who sholud they put with him? What are our thoughts so far....
JR/Evil Coach
Mick Foley/Evil Coach
Regal/Evil Coach
DDP/Evil Coach
Tony Schavonie(sic?)/Evil Coach
Joey Styles/Evil Coach
Who else?

I think JR has gotten stale, but does he want to stay? I don't know if Mick wants it, will it take him away from his Family more than he wants or will it just be a Monday and PPV gig? IMO Regal works better as a heel, will two heels work, if so see:Muppets. DDP, well I don't know, I would have to hear him do it more. Tony, does he want back in? If so, I think it would work.I think that Styles isn't even an option, as he doesn't want to be a part of the WWE(or so he has supposedly said).

Statler: This show is off to a fast start
Waldorf: Good, maybe it'll end quicker!

Waldorf: This show isn't half bad.
Statler: Nope, it's ALL bad!

Statler: Well, that was different.
Waldorf: Yep. Lousy...
Both: ...but different!

I've always found that if you have two announcers playing the same dynamic (ie. two heels or two faces) the storytelling suffers. You don't get both sides, so you only get one side getting put over. Too much of "so-and-so is a jerk" or "you've gotta love so-and-so", without the banter back and forth that would get over reasons to like the face and reasons to hate the heel. For example, back in the day when Gorilla Monsoon would be condemning Heel X for his heelish actions, you'd have Jesse Ventura or Bobby Heenan trying to justify what had been done, in effect giving Joe Mark Viewer more reasons to hate the heel (or, more reasons to go to an arena near you to see the heel get pummeled).

oh boy. Schiavone (sp?) and Heel Coach. That'll probably entertain me, but for all the wrong reasons.

Statler: Well, Triple H really is The Game.
Waldorf: Yeah--"Sorry!"

Statler: This is a return match from Wrestlemania.
Waldorf: Good, can I return my ticket?

Statler: The ref has been knocked out!
Waldorf: Lucky guy--he doesn't have to watch the rest of the match!

This is fun, actually! But I'll stop now.

Funny stuff with the Muppet guys

But who says it won't end up being JR and Coach?
I have a feeling next weeks match will see someone getting hurt bad, and it will be Lawler.
It could be Christian helping Coach and doing something wicked or perhaps Kane, I dunno..

But by the end of the night Evil Coach will be telling JR that it's his time and that JR kept him down.

Can you actually imagine that this does go back to him expecting to be anouncing with the 3 of them and then getting stunnered? Now that's a slow burn storyline ;)

*sigh* Why bother?

dMp, after reading your post I had all kinds of ideas run through my head and all of them were optimistic, all of Lawler going away. Thank you! And Rick that was some funny sh*t!

Statler: Kane fell in a dumpster of fire.
Waldorf: Wow, you can work with a McMahon, and get your heat back!

Can anyone cite an example of two heels or two faces announcing, where both members of the team proved that they are capable in a normal heel/face dynamic (that is, where the all-heel or all-face team sucking can't be attributed to the two components sucking individually(?

I'm not sure I grasp your question, but if it means what I THINK it means I'll go back a few years and offer up the pairing of Jim Ross and Gorilla Monsoon - two neutral-to-face announcers who complemented each other pretty well, I thought.

Actually is Taz Heel? I think he's more Face with Attitude (Urrgggg Dirty word) like the Rock in his Hey Day. Cole plays pretty much a face to., and they both are good announcers, infact their the best outta the Big Two...

Tazz is whatever the hell he wants! Coach should stick with Marc Loyd who is probably going to leave the (or should i say your) country! I must be the only person who finds them sooooo funny! (in England anyway *sulks*)I think Lawler's funny when he does his "I didn't see it!" act.

I know why Coach did it! He wanted his 'playa's card'! Bam!

Well, even though they haven't done it together, in NWA sometimes Don West plays the role of being the "appreciative of the heel's skills and craftiness" role, and the evil Mike Tenay was possibly the greatest announcer of all time, so I'm sure they could work something out. Though this confidence is likely due to my opinion that Don West is my favorite color guy I've heard in years outside of Tazz.

Foley and Regal could each make excellent babyface announcers, I think; Regal has a certain charm to him when he's behind the desk that could pay off well and get people behind him. Especially if you played up the oh-so-English idea of fair play and actually have him, y'know, believe in it. But don't ever put DDP near the booth. He stinks.
