Speaking of wrestling on channels you may not get, I forgot to mention this here when it turned up last week...

A CMLL one hour weekly show is now airing on the kinda over the air channel LATV. New episodes air Saturdays at 7p EST and Wednesday at 11p EST, and a 10 month old episode airs on Sundays at 7p

LATV is broadcast mostly as a digital subchannel - think of one ABC/NBC extra channels that just show all weather - which means it's technically over the air though no one would probably think to look at for it there. What it really means is that cable stations in the broadcast area generally pick up the station and put it in their digital tier. You may already have this station, if you're in an area with an affiliate (think big 3 cities, plus CA, TX, and other places with larger latino populations.)

This is the CMLL show that used to be on Fox Sports Espanol (and still is on the Mexican equivalent.) There's another CMLL show on uber-obscure channel 52MX with the same name but different matches.

Unlike ROH, CMLL doesn't live or die on this TV deal - they sometime seem to be uncaring it exists - so the big angles and (most time) the bigger matches happen on a different show, but they still use the bigger names on the show (there's a Mistico singles match that'll repeat this Wednesday.) It's like as if they use the RAW-level star power but the angles ultimately have ECW-level significance.

Upon further inspection, this is exactly the case; it's on one of our broadcast channels as a digital subchannel. Any clue how we're supposed to get it with digital cable? Does the provider generally split it off into its own station?

If it's like cablevision here, the only way you might get to see it without paying extra cable fees is if you buy a HDTV. When I got one last month and plugged it in, I got LATV as a subchannel for WPIX (channel 11 on analog). It doesn't come on regular analog or cable and you can only get in Optium digital if you buy the extra Spanish channels package along with the regular family package.

As far as CMLL goes, I like it but it gets confusing sometimes to find it. Usually it'll appear on Galavision on Saturdays and Sundays in the early afternoon if they're not showing Mexican soccer. I also used to catch it on Fox Sports en Espanol but they would switch the airing almost every week (sometimes Mon. night, sometimes Tues. early morning, sometimes Fri.) and I haven't seen it there in a while, like thecubsfan said. It's also supposed to be on Univision, the regular spanish analog channel, but I've never seen it on there. Hopefully, it finds a consistent schedule on LATV as I would like to see more of it.

Yea, it's usually deep in the hundreds. Like where the other digital subchannels are - check around where those NBC weather channel is. It should be listed as LATV in the channel guide, but it may be by the call sign of the main channel (like here, where it might be listed as WGNDT3 since it's the 3rd sub channel.)

TCF's second link ( http://www.latv.com/coverage.asp ) tells what channel it is on various cable providers in various markets. It seems to be correct, for instance the listings for WPIX in New York all match what Time Warner, Verizon, and Cablevision list on their own websites.

Otherwise an HDTV or one of those digital converter boxes you may have heard about.

I appear to have that channel on my cable system, although it has something else listed for Wednesday night at 11. Will keep an eye out, though. Thanks for the heads-up.

UPDATE: Caught part of the show tonight. The main event was a treat, best of three falls with Marco Corleone (Mark Jindrak), Dos Caras Jr. and Shocker against Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis, and a rather funny guy called Mr. Niebla. (He did a lot of schtick with the height difference between him and the much taller Jindrak.) Just taped a week ago, too. (Faces ended up winning on a DQ in the third fall, as Guerrero low-blowed Caras.)

One of my favorite things about this show is that the onscreen graphics actually tell you whether the guy is a face (tecnico) or heel (rudo). With all the shades of gray in modern US wrestling, that's kind of refreshing.

Too bad that Shocker never really worked out with TNA. I mean, the guy is 1000% guapo. That's quite a lot, you know!

In all fairness he can't be buried in a Jewish cemetary either, so there goes the face turn, too :)
