I taped what I thought would be CMLL on Friday night but it turned out to be AAA. They have a six-sided ring and Essa Rios and Juventud Guererra were in the opening match but it still was not holding my attention. There were an awful lot of commercials and there was very little action. I ended up shutting it off around the 35 minute mark. Does anybody know what's going on here? Where's my CMLL?
Not sure why it was AAA, but I enjoyed AAA more than CMLL. It's a different kind of action. What I really like is the crowd's reactions to moves like clotheslines and dropkicks, which never get a reaction here.
And you can never totally count on what you're going to get in that block either. In the past 5-6 weeks there was one time CMLL only went 30 minutes or so (which I think was the elimination cage match that Negro Casas lost) and another time it ended up being 2 full hours of CMLL.
Vampiro gave a tomstone piledriver to the Midget Blue Monkey
This immediately and unequivocally makes him PUBLIC ENEMY #1
I watched the AAA, I didn't like it at all. The 6-sided ring throws me off and it seemed too small. I didn't know for sure that was Essa Rios, I thought it looked like him. I noticed Juvi, but it couldn't hold my attention either. That match went for 20-minutes... The last 20 minutes was another 6-man tag, La Parka was in it & he was really cartoonish. Didn't really do any wrestling like he did in the CMLL match I saw, where he mix the two much better. Again another match that didn't grab my attention or was very good. What's the deal with all the "Sexy boy" babyfaces, on both matches had guys who portray that to the cheers of the females.
The middle 20-minutes was all promos from outside a hospital which I think a referee got injured and is there and this long skit about an ambulance in the back with heels going in and attack. Fire balls were used which I think a old medic ducked and a heel hit his female accomplice with it... AAA overall seems much more cartoonish/sportz entertainment/over the top compared to CMLL. Was the guy dressed in the red tux Charly Manson? I think he wrestled but didn't really impress.
Okay to be fair I didn't have high praise for CMLL first show in, but I think there was some good stuff there but I just didn't get into the groove of the show until Week 2 and beyond. AAA style and what seems to be personality I don't think will jive with me. I'll give Mexico some credit, it seems like they have distinct brands... But CMLL works better for me, I hope they go back to CMLL and not just because of the great Hector Garaza lol. What was the deal with the cut away to the crowd, they were in a impressive filled arena but then they cut to a full screen crowd shot and it looks like a stadium seating with sunshine coming in.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory holds at ORANGE alert - High (JBL is STILL WWE champion and now smarks arch enemy HHH is the World Champion. Major red threat, but the undercard seems okay. The alert holds... for now)- 9/19
AAA La Parka is not the same guy as the one in CMLL. Antonio Pena owns the name, and when the original La Parka left the company, he took La Parka Jr (not the son of WCW/CMLL La Parka), stripped the Junior from his name, and made that guy La Parka. That's why CMLL's guy is L.A. Park or some variant thereof.
The AAA crowd-shots have been a staple of AAA broadcasts since the earliest days of the fed back in the early 90's.
For me, the main difference is that you don't need to understand Spanish to comprehend the angles. With Casas/Perro, the angle is driven by the universal beauty of complete hatred. With AAA, I doubt even knowledge of Spanish would help. AAA has better highspots, but that's about all that I can say that's positive. With the general sleaziness of Antonio Pena hanging over the fed, I can take it about once a month.

Thats what I have been wondering. I don't get CMLL or AAA, so which company has "La Parka" from WCW fame?
Depends on how much they want to use "name" WWE talent to draw. They could take someone off the roster, a William Regal-type and do it, or they could just use the FCW trainers, like Billy Kidman and Norman Smiley.
