I think Foley would struggle to find out what was served at catering thesedays, let alone be told something as major as Punk returning. Though I can totally imagine them feeding him the lie then having a laugh to themselves when he makes an ass of himself to Meltzer. Laughs all round.

Punk in the title match only worked for me when there were two world titles to go around. However, Punk/HHH really didn't do anything for me back in December when they were teasing it initially. Neither did HBK/Bryan.
Also, bringing back Punk to slot him into the title match superficially would've worked but honestly, Bryan is a much better fit.
Punks 'beef' with Authority always felt forced, since HHH was very much Bryan's story. However 'DB vs The Authority' & 'DB chasing the title' are inextricably linked, so one doesn't work without the other.
Bryan taking on the authority & Bryan taking the title need to happen together for this to work, Bryan beating HHH & then taking the title one month later mean both moments will be diminished less.
Will Hall, Hogan, and Nash be coming in with complete creative control over their characters, like they had in WCW?
I read somewhere that Hall and Nash have a reduced road schedule written into their contracts, but nothing about booking power ...
