So I'm ready for my free Zelda disc... but I find out OLD games don't have serial numbers. Payday being in less than a week, I was wondering if anyone knows WHICH games have the serial inserts?
I'm gonna get some games but I want them to count. (I HOPE Viewtiful Joe is one of them)
Cast in the Name of God Ye Not Guilty (I SWEAR THAT FLCL PICTURE'S LINK WORKS NOW!)
Ummm ... I think the only games that can be registered are Double Dash, 1080, Mario Party 5, and Mario and Luigi (GBA); HOWEVER, you can also register your GCN and GBA systems (the GBA and GBA SP can be registered as separate systems, yay!) and combining those with just one of the above games is enough to qualify for the Zelda disk.
Oh you wanted advice, when I saw the thread title I thought it was a suggestion (thank you Kevin Nealon).
Are you talking about the games you can buy to get the free zelda disc? If you are you need two of the following: Mario Kart double dash, Mario Party 5, 1080 Avalanche. I also found that you can get the disc by subscribing to Nintendo Power for 19.95. All this info is available at Nintendo.com
(edited by Doc_whiskey on 4.12.03 0738) Mr. Burns: You are of course familiar with our state usury laws? Homer:U-sur-y? Mr. Burns: Oh silly me, I must have just used a word that doesn't exist.
You can also get the disk by subscribing to Nintendo Power. Sure, NP is nothing but a huge, extremely biased ad, but I figure the Zelda Collection disks is worth $20 and a trip to the trashcan once a month.
You could also have picked up Zelda as part of a new Gamecube bundle for 99 bucks. Or you could have done like me and bought Double Dash and Mario Party 5. I got the disc in the mail on Monday night and have been playing it ever since.
Speaking of which, here is my thoughts on the disc. The "Retrospective" was disappointing. I thought it would feature interviews or something, but it really just lists all of the individual Zelda games ever released and then shows about 10 seconds of footage from the game. I did learn something though, as I didn't remember how many Zelda games were released for the Game Boy. There is a short mini-movie about the Windwaker, but since I have the game it didn't interest me. There is a 20 minute demo of the Wind Waker game, but again I've played it.
I played the first Zelda game for many, many hours, starting from Monday night to about 4 hours ago. I'm falling in love with the game all over again. I am in the second quest, but I gave up for now.
I have been working on Zelda II:AoL for the past hours, and I remember how underrated this game is. It couldn't be as good as the first Zelda, but I liked the different direction Nintendo took with the game.
There are also two other Zelda games on it. I have the Ocarina of Time disc from pre-ordering the Wind Waker disc, but I have never played Majora's Mask, so I am definitely looking forward to playing that game.
All in all, I would have paid any amount of money for this disc. I do hope that eventually Nintendo releases it as a stand-alone buyable disc so others can enjoy the old-school flavor.
(edited by Torchslasher on 4.12.03 1625) Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.
Majora's Mask is good, a ton of details, but it gets really repetitive because the story is that you only have 3 days to accomplish your mission, so near the end of the 3rd day, you have to warp back to the beginning (losing most of your non-special items in the process) and start over. It's a good game but feels really confined compared to Ocarina of Time.
And I'll more than likely have an extra copy of the Zelda CD to sell soon. I wasn't sure I would be able to afford a GameCube before the end of the special, so I subscribed to Nintendo Power just to be sure I got a copy of the disc. Now it looks like I'll be breaking down and buying a GCN tomorrow anyway.
Have they said when the offer will be ending? I didn't see it on their webpage.
I already have Double Dash, but I doubt I'll get any of the rest of them before Christmas. I'm planning to get Mario & Luigi, and I'm somewhat interested in Mario Party as well. One thing holding me back from getting MP is I've heard that it's kinda weak/boring in single-player mode. Anyone care to comment on that?

Mario Party 5's single mode is interesting, but not as much fun as MP 4. You face three Koopa Kids in a small portion of whatever Dream stage they randomly pick. You all start out with the same number of coins, and you have to beat the Koopa kids in duel 1 on 1 mini games. If you do, you take away their coins. You have to get all the Koopa Kids down to zero and eliminated before the end of the 15 turns.
You have to do this for 5 levels. After each dream stage, you get a letter grade and a star rating. For instance, you can get a so-so star, average star, etc. I faced them on normal level, and won most of the time. After 5 levels, you go to the Bowser Dream level. After that, you go to an MP4-like battle arena to face off against Bowser.
All in all, I thought MP4's story mode was better. I'm hoping that when I move to put the computer's difficulty on Hard that I will get better star ratings and maybe unlock something. With MP4, you got to furnish your character's room, but with this your game is over after defeating Bowser.
I'd still recommend MP5 though, because the actual levels are much more expansive than MP4. The mini-games are similar to MP4, but some of the new games are inspired. I dug it, but you may want to rent it first.

Even having played through the game twice, I'm not sure I can fully answer that question correctly, but I'll give it a shot. But, I'll give it a shot...
