Sad news. Cliff Robertson has died at 88. (hollywoodreporter.com)

He was a prolific actor and a Best Actor Oscar winner for Charly. Younger audiences know him best as Uncle Ben to Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man. I liked him even more as Shame in the 1960's Batman TV series.

That is sad, I thought he did a lot with little as Uncle Ben. RIP Cliff.

Actually, it was "PT 109". And The President in "Escape from LA"

RIP

PT109. Yep. (updated - seems JFK picked him himself for the role)

Loved that movie, and my favorite roles by Robertson:

Nice little role in Midway
He played Cole Younger in the Great Northfield Minnesota Raid. It's on Netflix now. Watch it.

The Devil's Brigade - as the sane Canadian alongside a crazy Bill Holden.

Nice Career, good guy, it seems too. He was a plane nut, I understand

Old people like me remember hi as JFK and in the Devil's Brigade. Seemed like a genuinely nice guy. The worst part about deaths like this (stars of our youth) is reminding people like AWA and myself just how old we are getting.

No kidding. Thank goodness you are older than me.
