Forty years ago this week, Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. As a liberal Democrat, I wanted to mention the fact and sincerely thank the Republicans in Congress who crossed party lines 40 years ago and made its passage possible. With all the acrimony and name calling between the parties today IMO its important to remember that many Republicans fought hard for civil rights and many Democrats fought just as hard against them. It also points out that it was and should be possible for both sides to work together for the common good. This election year in particular that fact seems to be lost.
You're welcome...of course remember, we still get tagged as the party of racists.
God Bless Ronald Reagan, and may he rest in peace...

For decades, American had waged a Cold War, and few believed it could possibly end in our own lifetimes. The president was one of those few. And it was the vision and the will of Ronald Reagan that gave hope to the oppressed, shamed the oppressors and ended an evil empire . . . Ronald Reagan was more than a historic figure. He was a providential man who came along just when our nation and the world most needed him.
Fellow Americans, here lies a graceful and a gallant man. - Dick Cheney, 6/9/2004
Reagan had a rare and prized gift called leadership, that ineffable and sometimes magical quality that sets some men and women apart so that millions will follow them as they conjure up grand visions and invite their countrymen to dream big and exciting dreams.-Brian Mulroney, 6/11/2004
It's your own damn fault. You didn't used to be. In fact, a higher percentage of Congressional Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 than Congressional Democrats.
You guys saw an opening in the South after that, tailored your message to be subtley racist accordingly, and took it. Hey, that's Politics I suppose.
I wonder how much money George W. Bush gave Paris Hilton.

If you start at '65, Republicans are 6-3 in Presidential elections, while prior to that, Republicans had been 2-7 in the previous 9 Presidential elections (and that was war hero Eisenhower). The Southern Strategy did work in Electoral College math.
Any third world countries want Kevin Millar? I'll throw Ramiro Mendoza in the package just to give you a good deal.
You know what, this post is so refreshing. Never mind party politics, for once we are reminded that all politicians, irrespective of party allegiances, can accomplish real goals.
I think it is more telling that people will still cry RACIST! at those who dont support a lot of programs that are benificial to minorities, yet think those who try to keep minorities dependant on those programs are thier friends.

You are such a liar.
YOUR CONTINUED HERESY AGAINST THE WRESTLING GODS HAS DOOMED YOU TO SPEND ETERNITY WATCHING A MORDECAI VS. KENZO SUZUKI MATCH (and Hiroko isn't at ringside for you to oogle).
I am starting to get the impression that the right is starting to becpme concerned about Dean. This is a reach and I normally think Will is pretty good even though I don't agree with him politically.
