I have a feeling that there will be another Cruiser/Clusterfuck/BattleRoyal/ type thingy happening at GAB.

A link to one ex-wrestler's opinion of Chavo Classic and his recent and past actions...this is a link to the Tom Hankins section of kayfabememories.com....

Well certainly Chavo Classic is a loss but if they do get rid of the Cruiser belt I don't think it's a bad thing. It was a joke anyway, and they're never going to do anything with it, it's better to get guys like Chavo, Mysterio, Noble out of the cruiser division and wrestling the other mid card to main eventers.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read

According to the Smackdown spoilers, Rey Mysterio beats Chavo Classic on this week's show for the cruiserweight title. Pleasantly surprised to see him lose it in the ring, but I wonder what the tone of Cole and Tazz is going to be like.

I love Chavo Classic as much as anyone, but what the HELL did he do to earn an 18 000 dollar payoff for a single show? I mean, seriously, it's absurd for someone his age who is on board strictly because of a family connection making that kind of money while other guys who are in based on hard work alone make much less.

And no showing isn't "taking a stand" it's "being a child". I know showing up to work and addressing your superiors about things that bother you isn't awful dramatic, but I don't think people try that enough in the wrestling business.

Chavo Sr is a moron. It's just a work, and when the hell will he see that type of money again? When he blows all his money away he'll realize what jackass he truly is.

Now Smackdown has officially died. Chavo Classic WAS Smackdown.

I've decided to take a more positive approach to the whole situation. Chavo Classic is gone, but Chavo remains! That's still half the goodness. So in hope the poor guy doesn't pay for his pappi's attitude...

It had to have been his Wrestlemania payoff.

You're right, HMD, no showing isn't "Taking a stand", but flat out refusing to parade around in panties sure is.

Well, Chavo Sr. sure put on a helluva match on his way out. Too bad it was wasted on someone who didn't need it. This would've been a GREAT opportunity to hotshot the belt to a relative unknown like Paul London, who'd have a built-in PPV rematch with Junior, plus a bunch of guys lined up to cherrypick the "neophyte."

Chavo Classic > Ric Flair, this is truly a bummer. I watched the show not even aware of the news of his release...hmm, atleast I got to appreciate his last moment as I normally would. In a fun match too...another older guy who can outwrestle more than half the roster. This is one serious shenanigan.
Speaking of veterans who outwrestle the youth, this falls on the same week Shawn's indefinite hiatus is set-up. Who will you rob me of next, WWE(I know Shawn's situation isn't really their fault)? There aren't too many more guys who make the show worth watching. Not that I'm likely to abandon ship either way...that'll take a whole lot more, if anything. But still.

Alas, if only another superstar's father had Classic's ability to say, "You know, I don't think I'm going to parade around in underpants."

The whole Chavo Classic stuff was ridiculous anyway. A typical WWE gimmick they use when they lack ideas.

Just make it as daft as possible or hash up an old angle, where if it's woman, make her pregnant, or an old guy, humiliate him with a load of women hanging off him, who of course, most likely would never look at him twice.

I think you can make good case as Chavo Classic has been has been the past years best "second/manger/valet etc". I think Chavo Jr. could have really been lost in the shuffle (like pretty much all cruisers except Mysterio) especially after Eddie went to the top of the card. He and his fathers act caught on pretty well and got them consistent SD time... I'm not saying C.Classic is the most talented second/manger, that honor most likely goes to Paul Heyman. But as Heyman was mostly doing the GM role & just now managing IMO the still tired Dudleyz. I thought the Chavo Sr/Jr partnership was the best this year.

Meltzer's saying in the newest newsletter that Chavo Sr. already contacted TNA about appearing as a regular. If Jimmy Hart had a no-compete clause in his contract for just appearing at the Hall of Fame event, I'm sure Chavo Sr. has something similar. It was interesting to note that Chavo Sr. segments on Smackdown were generally the 2nd most watched segemnt on the show.

Do they still do that 30 second preview spot at around 8:50? If so, does that count if someone says it then, or does only the show itself count? :)
