My girlfriend and I are in Charlotte for the long weekend. She got her undergrad at Davidson, but that was 10 years ago.

What we were wondering was if anyone in the area knows of any great soul food places (the one we wanted to go to tomorrow closed down) and other than the lake, were there any sights to see?

I only go down there once a year for work now, so I'm sure others will have better answers than me, but if you want to spend the money, The US National Whitewater Center ( is a fun place to go. They have different packages there that you can purchase. Good way to kill a half day.

And I don't know any soul food places in Charlotte but if you like BBQ, then Mac's ( is pretty decent.

Dear God, busting out Cinderella's "Don't Know What You Got 'Till It's Gone" and freakin' Air Supply's "All Out of Love!?" Insanely genius. Only South Park can rip on Goth kids, John Cusak, and Hooters in the same episode.
