So, Chad Ochocinco drives to the Bengals' stadium for their playoff game against the Jets, driving a Hummer he'd custom-built himself, with Ochocinco logos all over it. He proceeds to make two receptions for 28 yards and no touchdowns, and the Jets win 24-14 on their way to the AFC Championship Game.

He's invited to the Pro Bowl, and during AFC practices he does a lot of kicking, and makes some noise about doing so in the game. (He doesn't.)

And now during Super Bowl media day, he goes to press conferences wearing "OCNN" signage (Ochocinco News Network), and actually asks questions of some of the players and personalities involved in the Super Bowl.

Will someone please grab this guy and tell him to sit down and shut up?

Indeed, if only he'd driven the Prius the Bengals would have won.

Damn him for not coaching the team as well as playing in the game.

Yes, because the Super Bowl Media is an entirely serious event that should be void of personality, least of all some personality shown by another NFL player.

Will someone please grab this guy and tell him to sit down and shut up?

Are you referring to yourself there? In my mind, yes...

I've tried to explain this to you before, but I don't think you listen. It wasn't a Hummer, big guy. It doesn't look even remotely close to a Hummer. And if it was, how DARE he!!

He proceeds to make two receptions for 28 yards and no touchdowns, and the Jets win 24-14 on their way to the AFC Championship Game.

You see a lot of other receivers having great success against Revis?

He's invited to the Pro Bowl, and during AFC practices he does a lot of kicking, and makes some noise about doing so in the game. (He doesn't.)

You're right about this one though, I'll give you that. The Pro Bowl, just like all other professional sports all star games, is a very sacred event. He has no business making a mockery of it by trying to have fun.

And now during Super Bowl media day, he goes to press conferences wearing "OCNN" signage (Ochocinco News Network), and actually asks questions of some of the players and personalities involved in the Super Bowl.

Let me get this straight: you have a problem with him asking questions? On media day? Wow. You couldn't be more off-base with this. Media day a giant circus created for the sole intention of lightening the players' moods and showing fans another side of the participants. Not only that, but almost everyone who knows what he's talking about thinks what Ochocinco is doing is revolutionary; i.e., an active NFL player doing news on other NFL players.

Will someone please grab this guy and tell him to sit down and shut up?

I'd be willing to wager you're in the minority of people who are bothered by him. So no, I don't think anyone will. Unless JJD's interpretation of your comment is accurate.

I am reading his book now actually and I highly suggest the topic creator do so too. The guy wants to be a legend and is going about in his own way. Whether he becomes an amusing afterthought in NFL history or the first of his kind will not stop him from doing so. And as the above posters said, none of what he did in your post was all that outrageous.

Exactly who has 85 hurt again? Or shot? Or how many pit bulls fought on his property?

I am shocked to see so many people defending his antics. I mean, I don't hate the guy, but his constant attention-seeking and self-promotion get annoying sometimes. Is it "wrong" - well, not in the same sense of dog-fighting, but that's just a stupid comparison. Really stupid. By that rationale, there's no reason to dislike any athlete who has never been arrested, but clearly there are sports personalities that some people just don't like.

Brett Favre never fought dogs or shot anybody - not to my knowledge anyway. But I still can't stand him and neither can a lot of other people. And I couldn't stand him even BEFORE his pseudo-retirement crap - based mainly on the infatuation the media had with him to the point of overlooking his often poor play in critical games. In any case, this:

Are you referring to yourself there? In my mind, yes...

... is uncalled for and pretty childish. Ekedolphin doesn't like the guy. I'm sure there are people you all don't like who ekedolphin does - and probably something of slightly less substance than "he shot a guy."

How is Ochocinco different from Warren Sapp? And Warren Sapp was a pretty divisive personality, and also a very good player. Is there no reason to dislike Warren Sapp? Would you tell someone who said he didn't like Sapp to shut up?

It's perfectly okay to tell Ochocinco to sit down and shut up, but not to tell ekedolphin to. Okay.

And it is perfectly ridiculous to go ballistic over someone who just acts the fool on occasion, and, Halas forbid, actually has fun on the field without hurting anyone.

Find someone else to yell at, like Plaxico or someone. There are plenty of real "bad guys" to go nuts over. Ochocinco is Bambi compared to these idiots.

Can't really blame him for going to cover media day. Probably as close as he'll get to a Super Bowl.

Chad somehow manages to stay on the fun-loving side without crossing over to the jerk side. Unlike TO, his stunts don't ever seem to be at the expense of someone else.

The name does bug me and the fact that he actually had his name legally changed to "Ochocinco" does make me question his thought process. Ultimate Warrior not only changed his name to "Warrior" but his whole family's if I remember.

While we're on the subject of OCNN and Terrell Owens, according to that vile, hated news source that is OCNN, Terrell Owens will be a Cincinnati Bengal next season. The Bengals can't comment on it yet because Owens still belongs to the Bills (until March 5, I believe) and talking about it would be tampering, so we won't know for SURE for about another month. But according to First Take this morning, Ochocinco was unequivocal in stating this was going to happen.

As an aside, I think I figured out why the OP had his panties in a bunch. Apparently on media day Ochocinco was denied access to the OP's beloved Peyton Manning. Either he wasn't allowed to ask him as many questions as he'd like or he wasn't allowed to stand as close to him as he wanted to, I can't recall which was the case because the (meta-)story didn't get much coverage. And so Chad made a minor stink about it. The thing is, who cares? The incident barely registered in the news cycle for the day, and nobody (not even Chad himself) cared that much about it.
