This is a good leak. Adding fuel onto the wider Internet based fanbase that they know is usually paying attention at this time of year. I wonder if the leaked note had a "From the Desk of Triple H" letterhead.

Especially given that HHH and Taker references were forced in there. (They would work the road if they had to, honest.)

I enjoyed this line too. An impressive level of spin. At least when our mystery backstage superstar is done with wrestling they can get a job as a political media advisor.

Spilled Coffee started a three month Kane/Jericho feud. Also the fact that Punk is a fan of GI Joe and tweeted Rock about it is not that far to go. Punk is red hot right now and Cena had to use Ryder to get some heat back on him in a Wrestlecrap feud.

Unless you think their only reasonable behavior is to kiss his feet regardless of how (they perceive) he acts. Which for all we know is only because his schedule is really tight ("limo to gorilla to ring to limo"), but again, it's pro wrestling, it's super-provincial.

Instead they let Cena be Cena and squash Miz/R-Truth via promos and matches. Its no wonder no one bought it.

Rock didn't help. He did an interview about how he didn't want to team up with Cena but he changed his mind because of his Twitter feed. Then he did a live promo that ignored Miz and Truth while they were standing right in front of him to talk about Twitter some more. Then he laid them out.

But Cena didn't help either. In fact, after Survivor Series, Cena cut a promo on how irrelevant both guys were. Way to give the rub.

As for Rock rubbing guys the wrong way, I guess my reaction would be "So What"? Michael Jordan was a dick for about 90% of his career and his teammates hated him personally, but he's a king in Chicago and I loved watching him play basketball. Ben Rothelesberger, at the very least, is a guy who would never want around your daughter or sister and he's loved in Pittsburgh. Casual fans (and hardcore fans) just want to be entertained and to basically use this as a plot point seems... wasteful. I don't care if The Rock isn't on the up and up about his intentions. I just want to see him do The People's Elbow.

Cena's promo was fine (although him referencing Rock being on a movie set laughing at his stunt double is like Russell Westbrook complaining about Kobe Bryant being rich), but if that's what he really thinks, then this is just a feud about attendance. They should have just based it around 2 guys wanting to prove who's better (or Rock costing Cena the title). Now, Cena sounds like John Kraskinski going on Letterman and complaining about Steve Carell leaving The Office. Any sane person would understand that what Carrell did (and what the Rock did) is understandable. And considering that Cena TRIED to be The Rock with 12 Rounds and The Marine makes it more absurd. Sure it's easy for him to say he wouldn't have left, but I'm guessing if he was getting $10 Million a movie, he would probably rethink the 250 nights a year on the road.

This would all be nice if, you know, they were ACTUALLY fighting. But the fact that they are doing these promos on WWE TV means that either the Rock is cool about what Cena's saying or really doesn't care. If he doesn't really care, why should we, as fans? The fact that Cena's so mad at this guy that the night before, they are going to go through what moves they are going to do to each other and plot out the end takes the sting out of his words (if that's how he feels).

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

When it is all said and done, Cena's first promo was really the ugliest part of the show.

So now even fantasy booking for the WWE hypes twitter...

I think the apology to Vince, after all the proceedings since Money in the Bank, really helped sell how "shooty" Cena was being in a way, but calling out the Rock for having a personal writer was just plain stupid.

If the Rock were here to give a rub he'd be playing heel and living up to what Cena says, just like his last heel run where he was the Hollywood douchebag and he put over Brock Lesnar.

If a cup of coffee can spark a feud, then so can a tattoo.
Rock runs in, in character as Roadblock (we've had guest-GMs act as their characters, right?) and confronts Punk.
We then see the champ walk away and we see a blue hood/mask hang out of his bag. There's your feud.

Seriously though.
There are plenty of people who do feel the Rock lied. Last month someone brought up his name and there was actually boo-ing. The "via sattelite" promos were annoying as hell.

I don't think these fans will suddenly be pro-Cena, but it does create a little bit of a vibe where both guys can act as face AND heel.

I still wonder how it will all work out in Miami.
Sure, lots of fans will be the semi-smart crowd. Who will boo Cena just because they hate him, and probably cheer Rock because of the memories. But if WWE can get 10-20% of those guys to boo Rock, they will create a unique atmosphere where anything goes.

Wether Cena is really jealous or not. Or if Rock is disliked backstage or not. I dunno. I don't take this at face value. I just try to enjoy the ride.

I liken it to this corporate world scenario:

you're an IT guy ... your company brings in a hot shot consultant & pays him very handsomely. Now the other guys in the IT department are a little miffed because the money used to pay this hot shot consultant coulda/shoulda/woulda been used to give out bigger merit raises and/or bonuses. While it may not have been to most popular decision, at the end of the day it's your boss's objective to try & make the company (sometimes himself) the most money possible.

I understand where a lot these "disgruntled" WWE guys are coming from, but at the same time, when was the last time that the Undertaker showed up? WM27 ... Granted, he's older & has to have time to heal, but he's showing up to collect a WM paycheck too.

Yeah, how 'bout that. There doesn't seem to be any notable sub rosa muttering, bitching about Undertaker. Which just reinforces to me the theory that, when he is there, the biggest issue may be Rock not behaving "appropriately" for that position.

When I *am* that hot shot consultant, I absolutely work with the guys. I do not just breeze in, kiss the bosses ass, do the minimal necessary work, take the $$$ & run. I'm happy to teach, mentor, or generally help out the members of the team or group that I'm working with. I've regularly gotten guys promotions, raises, better projects, visibility. As in "give them some rub".

It all depends on how you handle that kind of situation.

Isn't Taker still on that bullshit wrestlers' court? Also who is going to bash HHH if they are not two steps out the door like Punk was? The answer is no one. If they do bad talk them is a straight trip to depushville.

We have no idea how Rock acts backstage besides Cena and Punk bashing him and the so brave anonymous blog. It is weird that Punk bashed him during the summer than kissed ass about the GI Joe Tweet. If Rock is getting to the airport to the stage to the show then back to the airport, how the hell is going interact with them? If he is with them more and being a dick than that why is he staying at the same hotel as the wrestlers which is being reported.

Minus my own personal feelings about consultants, that is not Rock's job. Rock is there to make them money. He has. Survivor Series is the only PPV the last quarter to not lose buys and got 20,000 more than last year. Is it as big as they want it to be no? But, he is making them money. I am thinking Cena knows he is going to do the job at Mania and he is gong to burn the Rock down with him out of spite. Cena has never been the good loser. If you look at Cena before the match and he has super serious face, it means he is going to lose. Hell, he is also a terrible winner see HBK at Mania. Yes, he has pushed for some of his friends, but look how bad Ryder looks now. Thats a push no friend needs.

Mayhem is pretty much dead on. The wrestlers are jealous, because Rock can do whatever he wants and they are limited by the stupidity of creative. Yet, Rock has earned that right. He helped save this company when Austin went down. The IWC was claiming WCW's comeback with the Russo hire, HHH being champ and Austin being out. Rock along with others saved the company. He has brought in a shit ton of money, probably more than the mythical $101 million Cena brings in. These guys want what he has the ability to come and go as he pleases and get the giant payday. What they don't understand is Rock is going to make them more money in one night then probably 3 months of Cena, Punk and HHH at the top of the card.

I distinctly remember articles online saying watch out, here comes WCW. I mean this was also during the terrible Big Show/Bossman title feud and HHH/Vince being a main event on a PPV. Of course, no one really knew how shitty WCW was til the Radicals left then it was the stake in the heart, but Rock taking up Austin's spot was huge.

Agreed. My predictions tend to fluctuate between what I really hope for (Bryan returns) and what I really dread (HHH returns) depending on my mood. I really suspect that Nexus will squeak by and THIS FEUD MUST CONTINUE but that's kinda boring.
