Any new/big show NBC (or ABC or Fox or Univison) has hope for shouldn't be programmed against those games, but since those NBC Thursday night comedies are neither new nor big, it might be a good thing. This is only a one year deal, so maybe NBC decides it's a better strategy Community and Parks & Rec around for one more year since that audience is loyal if not big, putting new shows any place but those slots. (And if it doesn't work out for Thursday's shows, I don't think NBC will be too sad about it.)
It IS only 8 weeks, so no one should be making too big of programming decisions around it.
The article also mentions 2 Saturday games, which must be week 15 and week 16 after college football is mostly done. If I'm counting right (no NFL Network game week 1 or Thanksgiving week), those weeks will have games on Thursday and Saturday (and Sunday and Monday.)
Brilliant move for the Eye - with this move, CBS has definitely locked up Thursdays for November sweeps. (But didn't they ALREADY have Thursdays locked up for sweeps? Maybe not as brilliant as I thought.)
Originally posted by Matt TrackerI prefer the NFL announce crew to Nantz and Simms. But this might clobber NBC's Thursday comedy block.
Big Bang Theory plus whatever follows it have done the job at the 8PM hour already. NBC has cancelled the 9PM comedies for poor ratings so NBC Thursday comedy night has already hit rock bottom. With a lack of a recent hit comedy, I don't know if NBC has another potential hit coming next season.
ABC may get away with counter-programming Thursday nights. Gray's Anatomy and Scandal may appeal to non-football watchers, but 8:00 hasn't done too well for them lately. Fox, on the other hand, may have to plan carefully.

I think Parks & Rec has already been given a seventh (probably last) season, which is all I really care about.
I love football, but Thursday night games always suck. I'll pass.

As much as the Ricky Williams trade is debated, I can think of two other more interesting running back debates:
1) How would the Pack's history have differed if they had drafted Barry Sanders instead of Tony Mandarich in 1989?
2)
