Well, holy crap. Carlos Beltran is the man. He's earning himself a $20 million contract in the offseason.

That puts the Yankees at $200 million next season?

As a Cardinal fan I'm hoping that Beltran and Berkman both cool off. Crap, it seems like both of them bat every inning.

Well it wasnt a hitters game yesterday, unfortunately, my worst fears came true. I always thought izzy would lose us a game in the playoffs and he did so yesterday. People are trying to remain optomistic, but you can tell that spirits are down here as the situation looks bleak when you see Roger Clemens standing in your way. There are a couple reasons to remain optomistic that being whjile Houston hasnt lost at home in the postseason neither have we, including 2-0 against Houston. The cards only lost 4 in a row once all year.

Last night you gotta tip your hat to Brandon Backe, what a ballsy performance (though Woody wasnt bad either). If the cards are to win this series they really need Renteria, Sanders, Womack, and Matheny to wake the hell up and start contributing. Hopefully we will push this to 7, if so, I'd say we may be able to ride the momentum to the series.

Great outings by both starters yesterday.

In my mind all of this brings me back to Marquis losing his mind and throwing away a hit on Sunday, he probably would have scored that inning and the Cards might have then won the game.

I didn't like the walk to Berkman - though I understood the strategy. Hindsight is 20-20, but if they could have got Berkman, they could have walked Kent to pitch to Ensberg with 2 outs......

Needing a Cardinal comeback here.

Catch The Thrill on "Pick of the Week": taped Tuesdays at Planet Magic in Denmark, WI; on the air Sundays @ 1 am on WB-14!

Too bad for you Cards fans that Jungle Karma is officially with the 'Stros...The Jim Rome Show had Phil Garner (the best Brewers manager since Harvey Kuenn, IMHO) on today.

And that shall insure the closest thing we miserable Milwaukee fans can get to revenge for 1982. Go Astros!

(EDIT: You sure wouldn't know the English language is my business. Jeepers.)

Not to discount Rome, but if you're looking for Phil Garner karma, you have to consider that this is the 25th anniversary of the "We Are Family" Pirates. Garner was a regular infielder during that team's championship run. (Pretty sure this is when he got the nickname "Scrap Iron", according to Willie Stargell's book at least). Now if the Astros start giving out "Bagwell Badges" or something....

I dunno about the ROme theory, Larussa has been on I guarantee more times than Garner, Jockety has also been on a few times, and so has Rolen, Pujols, and several other cards. I think the jungle karma is balanced.

AFter todays game I realised that its a shame that the Bosox/Yankees series has gotten so much press, becuase this series has been just as good, with just as much drama in it.

Edmunds comes up HUGE for the Cards. Game Seven tommorow night!

I'm presuming that something Red Sox/Yankees-involved with overshadow Game 7 tonight. It would just be par for the course. Maybe Steinbrenner will immediately fire his whole organization. Maybe Boston will shut down due to the nonstop partying. Maybe it will be discovered that Pedro's gnome is really Theo Epstein's father.

Seriously, I'm predicting a St. Louis win. The Rocket will get rogered.

I would much rather see this happen to him at the hands of the Boston 9.

I really hate both of these teams.

Heart says 'Stros, head says Cards.

Aw heck, I'll root for the 'Stros. I generally like the underdog, and it'll be cool for them or the Sox to get the title. Plus, now that he's not a Yankee, I like Clemens again.

Two game 7's in the LCS's. Great postseason this year!

I'm rooting for Houston for a few reasons. One is that I still really like Roger Clemens because I guess he never "screwed" MY team, so I just see him as one of the greatest pitchers I'll ever have the pleasure of watching perform. Another is that I picked Astros/Sox preseason and right now that is remarkably still alive in the face of a lot of adversity, making me a genius, a wizard.

But mostly it's because I find the Cardinals to be a little smug and I don't like Tony LaRussa. The Cardinals have been considered indestructible this year when their destruction is quite clear: hit their starters, none of whom are shut-down guys, and try to neutralize two out of their now four big hitters.

This is not to say I don't think the Cardinals are a damn good team, because clearly they are. And I like the Cardinals as an organization and think they have tremendous fans. Houston's never been to a World Series, so I'll root for that. Either way it's not going to make or ruin my night, but you gotta root for someone.

That was a great series and the Cards made the plays when they needed to, especially last night with Edmonds' catch and Rolen's dinger. In spite of losing game 7, this one didn't hurt nearly as much as 1980, 1986 or even 1998. Make it 44 years and counting for Astros' fans...

Regardless, nice job Cards and now I'm a Cardinal fan for the next couple of weeks. Beat the Red Sox! Go Cards!!!

What a series, now we just gotta win 4 more. I wanna congratulate the stros for a hard fought series, and for giving us way more than we ever wanted to handle. Its a shame one of the teams had to lose, and I wish you the best of luck next year.

With the "we" comments being thrown around so freely, I was getting the impression you actually play for the Cardinals... heh. Funny how that happens with some fans.

Should be a good world series.

I am just so glad the deciding win came against Clemens, and that he never got the chance to win the World Series. May he retire and STAY retired now.

And go Cardinals, you Cub beating bastards. I'll continue hating you after the World Series.

I would like to agree with Shane, but who knows anymore. Is anyone really above suspicion anymore? I love Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn as much as anyone, but if a report came out tomorrow that said they used performance enhancers would we be shocked?
