I was cleaning out stuff in our basement last week when I came across what's left of my brother's old baseball card collection. They're not really old cards, mostly DonRuss and Topps from 1987-1991, but there's some kinda cool ones in there. Does anyone know of a website where they'd have a list of approximate values for these kind of cards? I'm not going to sell them anytime soon, but it's always nice to plan my ways out of debt Thanks.

Probably the easiest way to see the value of the cards is to buy a Beckett's Baseball Magazine. They are sold pretty much anywhere monthly and have estimates of worth for cards

"Plan my ways out of debt"???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, anything Topps or Donruss from 1987-1991 can be had for a minimum of effort. Unless your debt is measured in cents, and not dollars, don't hold your breath.

I hate to break it to you but last time i checked a Barry Bonds Topps card from 1987 (his rookie year) was only a couple of dollars so any other tops and Donruss from that time period would be even less. The stars maybe 50 cents to a dollar and the rest even less.

i thought the same thing until...a few months ago,i noticed on ebay people paying what seemed way over book value for bonds and sosa, both of whose rookies fall between this range. get them graded by beckett and it seems to really increase the value.

Thanks y'all.

Checked the 7-11 across the street and they don't have a Beckett's magazine. I'll have to check the CVS I pass on the way to class tomorrow morning.

I didn't think the cards would be worth much of anything monetarily, but I need ways to entertain myself sometimes. I definitely wouldn't sell them anytime soon, but I figured it would be fun to look.

Thanks again.

I haven`t seen an issue of Beckett`s Baseball Card Monthly on your average newsstand in ages. I used to have a subscription in junior high. I`m sure you can find it in bookstores and maybe more specialty places, like a comic shop. There are other magazines too, but Beckett`s was always the best. And yeah, `87-`91 baseball cards are probably ridiculously common. I have hundreds myself.

The latest edict sent down from on high ...The Bonds and Sosa Rookie Cards have been going up in value over the last year or so because of how good they've been doing lately. Last time I checked, the Bonds Rookies have been booking for between $15 and $50 depending on the brand and condition of the card. And the Sosa's have been going for higher than that for the last 2 years or so.

If you can't find the mag, they have a pay website. (No, I dunno the URL; try www.beckett.com, then try www.becketts.com, and if that doesn't work, use a search engine ;-) Probably a better way to look things up anyway, as long as the subscription price isn't crazy.

Manny might be lobbying for the 10 games because the last time he went on a minor league rehab in 2002, he liked it so much he asked if he could stay. Still wanted his major league salary, but thought that staying in the minors would be more fun.
