I don't know why this surprised me, considering her track record of being on the DL, but it did. I still thought she had potential on Smackdown and she had been saying online that she was cleared to return this month (Smackdown is in Milwaukee next week). I say too bad.
I had actually read somewhere that her current contract was going to be up in October and that she had shown no interest in resigning after that. In light of that, I was surprised at that time to read that they were going to use her anyway. This seems to make more sense. Before the injuries hit, she had gotten a little better in the ring, but all this time on the shelf wasn't going to help in that regard. And besides being hot, she didn't really have anything to offer outside the ring and wasn't particularly over. WWE has plenty of hot divas and it seems doubtful that Candice would suddenly connect with the crowd in just a few short months. And even if she did, it wouldn't leave WWE much time to capitalize off that. So why not go ahead and cut her loose?
The Bored are already here. Idle hands are the devil's workshop. And no... we won't kill dolphins. But koalas are fair game.
I think I can at least tie that, even though the thing that occured wasn't as big as a world title switch. The reaction was just as loud and raucous, possibly even moreso. Raw, Feb. 2000...Guerrero/Benoit/Saturn/Malenko had just jumped over from WCW....
