Missed one? http://wienerboard.com/cagcotd.php

I know I've been bad about keeping to a "daily" schedule, but I have really good excuses...most involving me sleeping. To make up for it, here's a requested high-profile low-profile candidate. What?

GARRETT GRUENER (D)

King of clubs (brokennewz.com) in the California Governor Candidate Deck of Cards (brokennewz.com)

Website: www.garrettgruener.com or, if that's too difficult to spell (and I got it wrong several times myself), www.gg4g.com - here's his pretty banner (which he did not actually pay me to display)

Blog: http://gruenerforgovernor.typepad.com/gruenerforgovernor/ - as blogs go, not bad really

Number of posts on forum (garrettgruener.com) as I type this: 140

Claim to fame: Venture capitalist founded Ask Jeeves (ask.com) and still serves as its CEO - this may explain why Jeeves is bald, I dunno

Putting your money where your mouth is: As of last report, has contributed at least $750,000 of his own money to his campaign - aka 100 times what he gave Davis LAST election ago (recallmoney.com)

In/Out: $198,376 spent so far (recallmoney.com)

Position on the recall: Against, making him yet another one of those "Against...BUT" candidates

More dichotomy: Purchased advertising on Google (tho' I only actually found one of his links when I searched on "Garrett Gruener" - kind of seems to defeat the purpose since he already has the #1 link for THAT (google.com) search)

Number of times name appears on ask.com search using keywords "California Recall Candidate": Zero - oops

Quote: "Our political dialogue is impoverished by these 30-second commercials. Even if I could afford to run them up and down the state, it's not what I want to do."

Compromise: Started running 15 second television spots last Friday (anybody seen 'em?) urging people to visit his website

Ringing endorsement: Quoted as saying daughter Dakota, 13, "said her dad's a little crazy, but it's a good thing to do."

More power to ya: "I will make sure we don't elect someone who will take California in the wrong direction." Pressed, he offered Schwarzenegger as an example.

Not exactly catching fire...yet: "I'm running for Governor with one goal in mind: to ignite a citizens' movement that forces Sacramento to get the state back on track."

Vote for Garrett Graham - the "I bought 12.5 million web ads and all I got was this lousy Cafe Press T-shirt" candidate

LATER: UMMMM

I find it interesting that in his little banner up there, the top of his head is cut off. Additionally, is it really necessary to put the little picture of California on there? Don't people already know the shape of the state? And if they don't, does it matter?

1. I think that's a bald guy's trick?

2. I think it's a graphic design concept of "balance" - nah, I dunno - I'm just glad he didn't put our flag in there like everybody else would have

I FINALLY figured out who this guy reminded me of just before I went to sleep... Billy Mays!

Could Garrett Gruener be donning a piece and shilling infomercial gear on the side?

Maybe THAT'S how venture capiltalists make all their money...

Hey, if you're not at work, these WAVs (oxyclean-orange-glo-oxi-clean.com) are hilarious. Listen to ALL of them. Save them on your hard drive. Use them for system events.

{ EDIT: Hey how about the correct link, all right }

It's a real shame that we cannot deal with reality. Anti-Semitism has been rife for the better part of 1000 years in Europe. What has been amazing is the ability of the Jewish people to make lemons out of lemonade no matter what happens.
