I wonder if a "new direction for the company" will actually accompany the new logo, or if Jim Varsallone just kinda added that part on the end there because that's what happened with the intro of the scratch logo/he felt like it.

It's probably just editorializing, since the difference is that there was a noticable change in the WWF heading towards the direction of Attitude even BEFORE the switch to the scratchy logo.
Except for the fact that they've adjusted to a slightly safer style of work, I don't really see anything all that different this time.

Something that just occured to me: New logo = NEW BELTS!!
I love it when they come out with new belts, except I hated/hate the original Undisputed Title (way too small), the currect WWE title (the face is a tad small, or maybe it's just the shape that makes it look that way), the IC title Jeff Jarrett dropped to Chyna (the face was the same size as the side plates so it looked like a giant band-aid), and the current U.S. Title (looks like WonderWoman's headband).
