Some of you may have heard of the fire going on in the NE corner of Minnesota, which is a huge undeveloped forest area called Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I just found this site that has two pages worth of the fire from this past Sunday. It is just amazing seeing Mother Nature's fury unleashed. Take a look: http://www.boreal.org/fireinfo/Cavity_Lake_Fire/photo_gallery.html

Wow. That's pretty spectacular. I hope nobody was injured. I remember going on a family canoe/camping trip there when I was a youngin', and if recollection serves, there's not much in the way of tracking who is in the area, and where they're at. Makes me think that we were ill-prepared if something like this had taken place while we were there. I don't even think that having a mobile phone would help too much.

This is partly in response to the debate about media bias and DrDirt's argument that the media's role is overblown because many people do not actually read the 'news' section of the newspaper.
