According to the World Tribune Pres. Bush is going to visit Libya (worldtribune.com) after an expected April 2004 normalization of diplomatic relations between the regimes. I'm curious to hear what some of the more conservative members of the W think about this, as I would imagine that there's still got to be a LOT of distrust and suspicion about that regime.

This isn't something I can really get behind. The fact of the matter is that it's another appearance of propping up a regime...

So, here's the deal. I'm into forgiveness. The One I serve says something along the lines of "the one who is forgiven forgives much." So, I am OK with forgiveness. I would have been OK with Saddam forgivness as well. Osama? Hmmm

That being said, Gaddafi and his country are trying to do the "get forgiveness" deal. They were pure sons of guns for many years - but, people can change. I am not saying Libya has changed, but that they could be changing. If that's true, then I am all for them entering the world community. Part of that is visits from world leaders, and with apologies to many members of this board, our president is the pre-eminent leader on the earth right now.

I think Libya has done a lot. First, there's been no sign of them being involved in Terrorism for many years, at least 8 or 10. They copped to the Locherbie thing and paid the victims according to a world court asessment. They say they're out of the NBC weapons thing and are allowing people in to check (and maybe they didn't really have any, but it's good to know that.). He's not supplying troops or attacking other countries right now.

So yeah, I am cool with Dubya going there. With appropriate security. Like the 82nd Airborne, maybe. Yeah.

No, really, I think a visit is appropriate. I personally hope a few other senior officials come in first. I'd rather Gaddafi wack Cheney on his visit than Bush on his if he's really nutty.

But 48% isn't most. What it says to me is that 72% say he did, indeed win the election by the rules, technicality or not. Maybe most Democrats who thought Bush won the election say he won on a technicality. ***The train of love's deceiving...
