With many Americans unhappy at French resistance to a war in Iraq, the president said there has developed "a backlash against the French, not stirred up by anybody except by the people."

If Mexico - or other countries - oppose the United States, he said that "there will be a certain sense of discipline." But he quickly added, "I expect Mexico to be with us."

Wow. Way to stir up those ethnic hard feelings, George. I love how there's no depth to which he won't seek when things aren't going his way. Reminds me of all the rumors his guys spread about John McCain in South Carolina.

Gen. Powell's traditionally been too middle-of-the-road for either party, and he likes his neutrality. I'm hoping he'll evenutally run for the GOP in 2008. But if he crosses over and goes Dem, which I doubt, I might just have to cross party lines.
