I have no idea how he dodged the first one. Say what you want about the guy, and I have no love for him, but I don't know if there is another president that could have dodged that.
I'm sure your take on this may vary depending where you stand on a lot of things, but I saw it as quite a show of anger towards US Policy.

I noticed that too. I always thought their reaction to that sort of thing would be much quicker.

Apparently it's one of the highest forms of insult over there. Very similar to the one finger salute over here.

American Maid would have been so proud. He gave Bush both shoes.
I was impressed with Bush's reflexes though. That man can move when he needs to.

I've heard the same thing, that's why everyone was smacking Saddam's statue with their shoes when it came down.

Sweet Austin Powers-reference.
I can't believe the Secret Service didn't kill the guy right there, especially since, oh...a guy tried to BLOW UP A PLANE with a shoe-bomb a few years ago and there was a shoe flying at the POTUS' head.
I was impressed with Bush's reflexes and follow-up comments.

My overall opinion is that I am saddened when the leader of my country is insulted like this. Not that I think he doesn't deserve it, but wow.
Funniest line I've read elsewhere: "Obama would've caught both shoes."
My overall opinion is I would throw a shoe at Bush but I don't want to end up in an Albanian prison.
That said credit for the reflexes. Of course, with the eight years he's had, I would think he feels like someone's always ready to throw something at him.

Interesting? Sure. But a bit too much "AMERICA FUCK YEAH" for me. (Although it should be said that he does have a point, in that the thrower would've been in deep shit under some other regimes for doing just that.)
Wonder if the symbolism was lost on Bush et al, if they remember why Iraqis were throwing their shoes at the Saddam statue before it came down.
